Title: One Of This Year’s Biggest Games Is Coming To Switch 2 Next Year Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 16:22:05 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/one-of-this-years-biggest-games-is-coming-to-switch-2-next-year/ Pearl Abyss has announced that Crimson Desert is planned to come out on Switch 2 in 2027. In fact, the developer behind the huge hit--which has sold over 4 million copies on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S--has a rough release window sometime between January and June.  The open-world action game heading to Switch 2 had previously been discussed by Pearl Abyss, but the company's latest earnings letter confirms Crimson Desert for the hybrid system. "In the case of Switch 2, the game has reached a playable baseline, and we are currently conducting technical reviews regarding performance optimization and quality standard compliance, targeting a release in the first half of next year," the financial briefing states.  Switch 2 is the only system listed for platform expansion of Crimson Desert, with Pearl Abyss adding that no mobile version is currently planned. How the game translates to the hybrid system will be fascinating, since it offers such a ridiculous sandbox to play with. The developer is also "currently conducting extensive research from both technical and gameplay perspectives" regarding multiplayer for the game. However, the company is clear that introducing multiplayer is a "complex" endeavor. Crimson Desert made over $180 million for Pearl Abyss earlier this year, and it's been one of the best-selling games in the US for 2026. The game also has one of the best companions for your character: a fat, lazy cat. For more, check out GameSpot's Crimson Desert review.  Crimson Desert Tips And Beginner’s Guide View Images
Title: Mysterious Witcher Game Project Sirius Undergoes More Changes – Report Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 16:04:43 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/mysterious-witcher-game-project-sirius-undergoes-more-changes-report/ Project Sirius, the upcoming The Witcher project rumored to be a multiplayer game, is undergoing its latest chapter of upheaval. According to Kotaku, nine people were laid off from Project Sirius developer The Molasses Flood, which is now part of CD Projekt Red. An additional nine people were shifted to other projects within the organization, the report said, adding that this was done as part of a "broader shift in development strategy." In 2023, CD Projekt Red confirmed that more than 25 people working on Project Sirius were laid off as part of the developers implementing a "new framework" for the game. "We are excited with the updated direction, but we are not ready to talk about details just yet," the developer said at the time. Project Sirius was announced in October 2022 under that codename, with CD Projekt billing it as an innovative take on The Witcher series aimed at veterans and newcomers alike. The Molasses Flood previously developed The Flame in the Flood, a survival game featuring original music from Chuck Ragan. Project Sirius is one of multiple upcoming games in the works at CD Projekt Red. Some of the others include Cyberpunk 2, The Witcher 4, 5, and 6, and a game made in partnership with Scopely.
Title: PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium Games For August 2026 Includes Helldivers 2 Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 12:24:29 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-plus-extra-premium-games-for-august-2026-revealed/ Sony is set to reveal the next batch of games coming to the Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium in August, but we already know of one of them: Helldivers 2, which is now available to download. Developer Arrowhead announced that its hit action game about bringing Managed Democracy to other worlds will be available through the Game Catalog starting August 12. An influx of fresh recruits is perfect timing, as the Helldivers 2 community is being challenged to collectively eliminate 500 million enemies by August 18 to unlock four Helldiver PlayStation avatars. Today also marks the release of a new expansion within the co-op shooter, Devoid of Liberty. This new content will see players venture into the haunted abyss of the Void to destroy Illuminate spires and gateways, exterminate new threats, and gain new ranks along the way. As usual, the new titles will be added to the Game Catalog every few days throughout the month for the US, UK, and Japan, starting August 18. All other regions will get the full batch of new games at once on the same day. Here’s a closer look at everything on the way: PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Games for August 2026 Helldivers 2 August 12 Helldivers 2 (PS5) August 18 Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (PS5) Vampire Survivors (PS5, PS4) August 25 Hell Is Us (PS5) Umamusume Pretty Derby - Party Dash (PS4) Two Point Museum (PS5) Metro Exodus (PS5, PS4) Dying Light 2 (PS5, PS4) PlayStation Plus Premium PS Classics August 18 Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (PS5, PS4) Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire (PS5, PS4) For the other additions, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is an incredibly deep game and a gripping tale of revenge and discovery. Set in 15th-century Bohemia, the open-world game follows players on their quest to find purpose in a brutal land. For a change of pace, you can try out Vampire Survivors. Easy to pick up, it's an engaging bullet-heaven auto-shooter--or Survivaton as developer Poncle calls it--where you steadily gain more power and have to use it to take down thousands of enemies. Other great titles this month include Hell Is Us for an old-school adventure that refuses to hold your hand, find out why your local anime convention has so many cosplayers dressed as high-speed anthropomorphic horses in Umamusume Pretty Derby, and Two Point Museum invites you to juggle bureaucracy with running the coolest historical exhibits in town. Thrown in Dying Light 2 and Metro Exodus for some bleak first-person experiences, and you've got a varied selection of games to check out this month. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can also download two classics in the form of Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams--right before the new game in the series launches--and Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire for a thrilling journey beneath the ocean. As a reminder, nine games will exit PlayStation Plus on August 18. Time is running out, so if you haven't checked out Dead Island 2, Harold Halibut, or Unicorn Overlord yet, you only have a few more days left to do so. You can also grab three games right now through any tier of PlayStation Plus--Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, For the King 2, and CrossCode.
Title: How To Craft All Omni-Tool Upgrades In Grounded 2 Date: Fri, 08 Aug 2025 17:34:00 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/how-to-craft-all-omni-tool-upgrades-in-grounded-2/1100-6533466/ The Omni-Tool is like the Swiss Army knife of Grounded 2. This device starts out as a simple chopping axe, but it can be upgraded several times and provide multiple functions. This lets you chop, dig, and hammer items to gain valuable resources for your survival. Here we'll guide you through everything you need to know in order to upgrade your Omni-Tool in Grounded 2. If you're a returning player, the new Into the Abyss update has added the ability to craft the omni-tool's new cutting function and make additional upgrades. For new players, you'll find a complete guide on how to get your omni-tool and make all existing upgrades. Make sure to check out our Grounded 2 guide hub, which includes how to make leather, craft "buggy" mounts, and more. In This Article How to get the Omni-ToolHow to unlock the Ranger StationUpgrading the Omni-ToolOmni-AxeOmni-HammerOmni-ShovelOmni-WrenchOmni-Clipper How to get the Omni-Tool Wall of Omni-Tools in Ranger Outpost: Snackbar After you complete the Grounded 2 tutorial, you're free to explore the dangers of being tiny in a neighborhood park. However, you'll want to quickly start working on your main objective, which tasks you with finding the Ranger Outpost. This is marked with a star icon to follow, so it's a pretty easy task. Once inside the outpost, you are tasked with grabbing an Omni-Tool off the wall. The Omni-Tool replaces the need for several different tools as featured in the first game, which required you to have separate hammers, shovels, and axes with their own upgrades. This one tool can eventually be upgraded to do it all. Grab the Omni-Tool from the wall, and now you have a basic axe tool for cutting. This won't get you all of the resources you need. You'll need to progress through the main mission a bit further to get access to the Ranger Station. How to unlock the Ranger Station Ranger Station in Ranger Outpost: Snackbar You'll notice a door inside the Ranger Outpost is locked. There's a phone ringing within this locked room and a terminal called a Ranger Station. Your main mission objective will now task you with finding a way to this locked room called the Communications Array. This marks a nearby tunnel on your map. You'll need to head inside the tunnel and navigate through to reach an entrance to the locked room inside the Ranger Outpost. This part isn't too difficult, but it's dark and contains several lawn mites, so you'll definitely want at least a basic spear to fight off the bugs. A torch is also helpful here, but you can navigate the tunnel without one. Carry on with the mission steps to answer the phone. After a brief interaction, you'll be able to use the Ranger Station terminal found inside the room. Upgrading the Omni-Tool Interact with the Ranger Station terminal to make your first upgrade to the Omni-Tool. You already have the first axe function, but this lets you add three new tool functions with the wrench, shovel, and hammer upgrades. Each tool type also has multiple upgrades you can make for even further use. Each type will cost resources and add a benefit to the tool. Not all resources are known at this time, and the guide will be updated. This is because some of the upgrades' required resources are coming in future patches, making some upgrades currently unavailable. These are all listed as follows: Omni-Axe Omni-Axe upgrade You start with the basic level 1 Omni-Axe functionality when you first get the Omni-Tool. This lets you cut grass and weed stems, but you can also make four additional upgrades to chop even more resource options. The Omni-Axe has four additional upgrades. Upgrade II requires: 2,000 Science points 2 Roach Chunks 2 Blueberry Leather Upgrade III requires: 3,000 Science points 3 Black Ant Mandibles 2 Praying Mantis Claws Upgrade IV requires: 4,000 Science points ? ? Upgrade V requires: 5,000 Science points ? ? Omni-Hammer Omni-Hammer upgrade This provides the Omni-Tool with hammer functionality. It allows you to hammer simple rocks for more pebbles and bust acorns for new resources. You'll also need the following materials: 350 Science points 2 Pebblets 1 Sap There are four additional upgrades to further improve the hammer function. The hammer upgrade II requires: 2,000 Science points 1 Ladybug Head 3 Lingonberry Leather The hammer upgrade III requires: 3,000 Science points 1 Potato Beetle Head 3 Gunpowder Clump The hammer upgrade IV requires: 4,000 Science points ? ? The hammer upgrade V requires: Unknown Omni-Shovel Omni-Shovel requirements This upgrades the Omni-Tool with the ability to shovel. It allows you to shovel soft dirt and clay. You'll also need the following materials to upgrade: 350 Science points 1 Grass seed 2 Sprigs The shovel also has two additional upgrades to improve the shoveling functionality. Shovel upgrade II requires: 3,000 Science points 1 Northern Scorpion Stinger 2 Pine needles Shovel upgrade III requires: 5,000 Science points ? ? Omni-Wrench Omni-Wrench requirements This upgrades the Omni-Tool with the ability to repair items. You'll also need the following materials to upgrade: 1,000 Science points 2 Red ant parts 2 Clay The wrench has two additional upgrades that can be unlocked to further improve the repair function. Upgrade II requires: 2,500 Science points 3 Gum Nuggets 2 Rust Beetle Parts Upgrade III requires: 3,000 Science points ?? ?? Omni-Clipper Omni-Clipper requirements This function adds a clipper to the omni-tool, allowing you to cut underwater plant life. Most of the resources needed for the clipper upgrades are brand-new additions included with the park's new water biome. You'll need the following materials to unlock the base clipper function: 1,000 Science points 1 Water Boatman Fin 2 Wax Water Boatmans can be found in the water all around the new Skunk Pond and Bridge POIs, especially near the lilypads. Wax can be found on the tops of the lilypads, and this includes the ones above and below the surface of the water. There are two additional upgrades to further improve the clipper function. The clipper upgrade II requires: 2,000 Science points 1 Diving Bell Spider Chunk 2 Crow Feather Pieces Diving Bell Spiders are the spiders lurking in the pond and water areas around the Bridge POI. The Crow Feathers are an existing resource, and they can be found in various places in the park, including the Snack Bar, Picnic Table, and Ice Cream Cart locations. The clipper upgrade III requires: 3,000 Science points 1 Toe Bitter Claw 2 Sunken Bone Toe Bitter parts are obtained from the game's creepy new Toe Bitter bug. This creature is found on the shore around the pond. Sunken Bones are small, curved, horn-like bones found by diving down to the pond's floor. If you've already hoarded a bunch of resources, you might have enough to make the first hammer and shovel upgrades early on. Some of the upgrades require Lingonberry or Blueberry Leather pieces. These are resources worth collecting right away, and we have a full guide on where to get Lingonberry and Blueberry, as well as how to make them into leather. Title: The Best Games Of 2026 (So Far) Date: Fri, 08 May 2026 16:28:00 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/the-best-games-of-2026/2900-7436/ Once again, the year in gaming has seen no shortage of high-quality releases and GOTY contenders. Looking ahead, there are many highly anticipated games coming out in 2026, but how well will they score when they arrive? That remains to be seen, but, as in previous years, we'll keep track of all the games that hit a review score of at least 8 and list them below. That doesn't mean that games that fall below that threshold aren't worth your time, as they can still entertain you for hours on end if you can overlook some of their flaws. We'll also be keeping track of those titles below, but for now, the focus here is on must-play games. 2025's best games included Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Silent Hill F, alongside entries from smaller studios like The Seance of Blake Manor, Dispatch, and Blue Prince. As a reminder, GameSpot does standard game reviews, reviews in progress, and we'll sometimes publish updated reviews of ongoing games if there have been major changes to them. Most of our reviews are also adapted for video, so if you'd like to hear the soothing voices of our producers tell you exactly why a game is worth your time, you can hit up our YouTube page. To keep things simple, we'll be listing the games below alphabetically, based on their scores. We've also added a new section below, because while we may not find time to review every game out this year, there's still plenty that we'd recommend when it comes to gripping entertainment that we jammed during our personal time. Big Walk -- 9 Big Walk is a delightful and refreshing jaunt across a digital frontier that reminds you why video games are at their best when friends are involved. Untitled Goose Game developer House House has put together a charming combo of walking sim, puzzle-solving, and friendslop, and it leaves you to your own devices when you first set foot into a wilderness inspired by the legendary Australian outback. That hands-off approach, clever co-op communication channels, and simple gameplay make for a game that nails the idea of exploration and experimentation. Read our Big Walk review. With equilibrium being a key component of the experience, Cairn also knows exactly when to let players breathe, offering moments of quiet reflection as a counterbalance to when you hit a metaphorical--and literal--wall on your ascent. Rhythm Heaven Groove continues that tradition for surprisingly goofy games, and similar to WarioWare, offering a collection of zany microgames, there's plenty to dig into here. The big difference is the emphasis on music and timing in Rhythm Heaven Groove, but once you find your groove, you're in for a heck of an experience. Advertisement Denshattack Denshattack is a vibe--specifically, an early 2000s blast of color that pulls no punches and delights in making you sit forward in your chair as you lock into an anime-inspired thrill-ride. Title: Best in Class: Stream PC Games and Study on the Same Laptop With GeForce NOW Date: Thu, 30 Jul 2026 13:00:20 +0000 Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-back-to-school-2026/ Back to school means balancing assignments, deadlines and downtime. GeForce NOW makes it easy to have it all. With cloud gaming, everyday laptops used for class can also become GeForce RTX-powered gaming setups.  When it’s time to switch from studying to gaming, members can jump into Halo: Campaign Evolved, as GeForce NOW is bringing one of the gaming world’s most celebrated titles to nearly any device through the cloud, alongside eight total games joining the GeForce NOW library this week. From A+ to AAA Gaming  This back-to-school season, the easiest upgrade isn’t replacing laptops in backpacks. It’s unlocking even more from these same laptops, from creating to gaming. With a GeForce NOW membership, Chromebooks, Macs and Surface devices can become GeForce RTX-powered gaming PCs in the cloud. The GeForce NOW library features thousands of supported PC games, letting members stream titles they already own from digital stores like Steam, Xbox PC Game Pass and Epic Games Store in just a few clicks. The cloud keeps games up to date and ready to play, making it easy to jump into a match between classes, after homework or whenever there’s free time. Time spent waiting on downloads, patches and installs becomes time spent in game instead. The Ultimate membership enables best-in-class experiences by delivering 5080-class performance in the cloud with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies for responsive, visually rich gameplay — all on the hardware gamers already own. A creator known as “Menguiny” recently put this to the test after picking up a MacBook Neo. GeForce NOW turned the laptop — usually the creator’s go-to for editing videos and everyday work — into a top-notch gaming machine, too. Another creator, “TechWithSeong” highlighted that same versatility GeForce NOW offers. Rather than juggling separate devices for work and gaming, he used GeForce NOW Ultimate to stream supported PC games across the devices he already owns — from a MacBook used for editing to gaming on the go with handheld devices. Gamers can start with a day pass and experience all the premium benefits without a monthly commitment. Plus, the cost of a day pass can be applied toward a first membership purchase — it’s like earning a little extra credit along the way. Everyone, at Their Stations Needlers never looked so sharp. Experience the Master Chief’s iconic journey on GeForce NOW in Halo: Campaign Evolved — a modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign — rebuilt with high-definition visuals, updated cinematics and refined gameplay. Whether discovering Halo for the first time or returning after 25 years to finish the fight, it’s as the Master Chief says: “We’re just getting started.” Crash-land on the mysterious ringworld alongside Cortana and uncover great secrets while battling overwhelming Covenant forces. Fight through the rebuilt campaign, then continue the adventure with three brand-new missions featuring the Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. Expanded weapons, iconic vehicles, hijackable Wraith tanks and optional Skull modifiers offer even more ways to play. Suit up across PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, handhelds, mobile devices, TVs and more with GeForce NOW Ultimate, powered by GeForce RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud. Experience Halo with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies delivering higher frame rates and ultralow latency that keep every firefight feeling responsive and worthy of a Spartan. From solo gaming to online co-op modes, GeForce NOW cloud saves let members log in and pick up exactly where they left off across supported devices — no lengthy downloads, extra storage space or expensive hardware upgrades required. The only thing left to carry is the mission. Let’s Play Today In addition, members can stream the following games this week: Halo: Campaign Evolved (New release on Steam and Xbox, available on Game Pass July 28) Mistfall Hunter (New release on Steam July 29) Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (New release on Ubisoft Connect July 30) Sudden Attack Zero Point (New release on Steam, July 30) The Ranchers (New release on Steam, available July 30) Corsair Cove (New release on Steam and Xbox, available on Game Pass July 31) Funnel Runners (Steam) Pathogenic (Steam) What are you planning to play this weekend? Title: (For Southeast Asia) First look at Marvel’s Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 Console bundle and accessories  Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 02:56:45 +0000 Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/08/11/20260812-ps5/ Last month, the team at Insomniac Games and Marvel Games shared lots of new details and reveals at San Diego Comic-Con for Marvel’s Wolverine. Today, we’re giving a first look at the PS5 Digital Edition – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle, which features a PS5 Digital Edition that captures the raw ferocity of Wolverine alongside a matching DualSense wireless controller and a game code for Marvel’s Wolverine. Play Video View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image Inspired by Insomniac’s Battle Reborn suit and claws, the PS5 Digital Edition – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle will be available globally and channels Logan’s unmistakable intensity through a bold yellow finish. The design brings in Wolverine’s exposed claw marks and lets players peek under the hood of the PS5 Digital Edition and see what’s underneath. The DualSense wireless controller also features furious slashes inspired by his famous claws, giving players a striking way to bring the game into the palm of their hands.  The DualSense Wireless Controller – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition will also be available for standalone purchase globally. It was important for us to capture the primal energy of Wolverine in this new look for the PS5 console, and it has been fantastic collaborating with Insomniac Games and Marvel Games on the design. We worked alongside Jock, the Scottish graphic artist who contributed to the key art for Marvel’s Wolverine and whose work across comics helped inspire the bold, graphic tone of this limited edition design: “I wanted to show Wolverine at his fiercest for Marvel’s Wolverine Limited Edition PS5 Console bundle and accessories. I still draw all my artwork traditionally, so the opportunity to marry cutting-edge hardware with the energy and looseness of hand-drawn ink is incredibly exciting. I’m stunned by how well the console and accessories captured the raw energy of the drawing, bringing Wolverine to life in a completely unique way. ” – Jock, Graphic Artist “His [Jock] illustrative works have the energy and dynamics needed to capture the kinetic and violent nature of our hero. One whose primary interaction with the world is with unbreakable Adamantium claws. Jock’s illustrations are grounded and raw and perfectly personify Wolverine.” – Marcus Smith, Insomniac Games View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image If you already own a PS5 (model group – slim) or PS5 Pro console, you’ll be able to purchase PS5 and PS5 Pro Console Covers – Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition in limited quantities through local retailers. Title: The Steam Frame needs to be more than a cool device if Valve want to reshape the VR market Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 16:44:06 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/the-steam-frame-needs-to-be-more-than-a-cool-device-if-valve-want-to-reshape-the-vr-market Hi! I'm Rick Lane, and you might remember me from such columns as Reality Bytes, RPS' erstwhile monthly goggle at the world of virtual reality. I've spent the last couple of years trapped between the second and third dimensions, my flattened body doomed to forever spin to face the camera. But RPS has whipped out its bicycle pump and popped me back into stereoscopic 3D, so I can seek revenge tell you all about the state of VR in 2026. And boy, what a state! The headlines make for grim reading. VR headset shipments are in decline. Notable VR studios are either laying people off or being shut down outright. And VR's hitherto biggest champion is going all Distracted Boyfriend, ogling passing market trends in its ethically dubious smart glasses. The all-in-one Steam Frame headset is on the way - very soon, if rumours are to be believed - but in short, things don't look great. Then again, things don't look great anywhere in the games industry, so why should VR, gaming's most niche market, be any different? To truly understand the state of the VR scene, we need to try to separate the generally bad from the specifically bad. When we do that, it becomes clear that VR broadly isn't faring any worse than the industry at large, and in some areas at least, is healthier than you might expect. Read more
Title: Amazon are getting out of the MMO game, handing control of Lost Ark and Throne and Liberty to developers, but it won't all be smooth for players Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 16:00:00 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/amazon-are-getting-out-of-the-mmo-game-handing-control-of-lost-ark-and-throne-and-liberty-to-developers-but-it-wont-all-be-smooth-for-players Smilegate, the developer of South Korean MMO Lost Ark will be taking control of the Western servers that were previously run by Amazon Game Studios. Likewise, FireSpark will be taking control of Throne and Liberty's servers. Though, the transition will cause some disruption and data loss for players. While Amazon have poured money into in-house game development, they have also acted as a global publisher on several MMOs, such as Lost Ark, and found considerably more success than with their own projects. That said, as Amazon slowly backs out of the MMO room, shutting down development on New World and canning their in-development Lord of the Rings MMO, the future for these arms-length games has been uncertain. Title: "The world's becoming so bleak": How Soulframe hopes to escape Warframe's shadow, with a little insight from Elden Ring Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 15:17:32 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/the-worlds-becoming-so-bleak-how-soulframe-hopes-to-escape-warframes-shadow-with-a-little-insight-from-elden-ring Fantasy RPG Soulframe's great advantage and possible curse is that it's from the studio behind Warframe, the free-to-play sci-fi bonanza that has kept chugging away since 2013, amid increasingly rocky prospects for live service games in general. Warframe continues to pull a crowd, as was evident at this year's somewhat dystopian Tennocon expo, in which there was a whole auditorium set aside to house the queue for a bunch of T-shirt stands. That popularity gives Soulframe leeway to experiment and screw up, but it also creates temptation for developers Digital Extremes (who are owned by Tencent) to stick with what they know. Still, Warframe won't be a hit forever. As such, Soulframe's creators are trying to walk the line between lifting ideas from Warframe, and luring a new following with combat mechanics that take inspiration from Elden Ring. Read more

The co-op shooter’s big new update, Devoid of Liberty, sees the intergalactic nasties throwing out two new mutant enemies to fight on the field, while your bosses on Super Earth deploy better equipped, better trained, generally less all-round useless infantry troops to help you out. Title: Saber admit Rideshare "Stimulator" features generative AI writing, but deny they replaced taxi game's lead writer with ChatGPT Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 10:30:00 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/saber-admit-ridershare-stimulator-features-generative-ai-writing-but-deny-they-replaced-taxi-games-lead-writer-with-chatgpt When Saber revealed Rideshare "Stimulator", Oisin was guardedly interested in the unofficial Uber simulator. You play a taxi operator picking up and dropping passengers around town while listening to their stimulating conversation. You thought the name referred to a different kind of stimulation? Get your head out of the gutter. Though, maybe not too far out of the gutter. After all, since its reveal, Rideshare's gained more attention for its odd swipes at Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford and that time he left a USB stick at a Medieval Times restaurant which contained sensitive business documents and videos he described as "barely legal porn". Saber CEO Matt Karch told Gamefile “The dig is because Randy took shots at Embracer in Borderlands 4. Without Embracer, Randy is performing magic tricks at birthday parties for a living.” However, now Rideshare is coming under even greater scrutiny because the game's former lead writer, Stella Sacco, said on Bluesky that "Saber replaced me with ChatGPT midway through development". And, while Saber denies her account, they have admitted the game features generative AI. Use they've not disclosed on the game's Steam listing, contravening Valve's AI policy. Read more
