Title: GTA 6 Online Could Be Released In Early 2027, Bank Says Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 19:05:50 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-online-could-be-released-in-early-2027-bank-says/ Take-Two's biggest release ever, GTA 6, is coming up in November, but the company's share price continues to drop. It's down 21% this year and has now dipped under $200 this week after reaching a 52-week high of $265. In short, the stock is struggling, but one big bank says it sees a lot of upside, in part because Rockstar is expected to release a new version of GTA Online--potentially in the first quarter of 2027--that could generate loads of money. "We recommend being long $TTWO through the GTA 6 launch," the bank said in a memo to investors seen by Business Insider. Being "long" means the investor would buy and hold. The bank said Take-Two stock "remains cheap." In particular, Bank of America said investors are not fully appreciating how big GTA Online 2.0 could be. To be sure, Rockstar is calling GTA 6 a single-player game, but everyone expects multiplayer to arrive in some form eventually. GTA Online for GTA 5 has been, and continues to be, a huge moneymaker for Rockstar and Take-Two thanks to its many microtransactions. Many expect a new version of GTA Online for GTA 6 to up the ante even further and give players more reasons to spend time--and money--in the game. Bank of America said a new version of GTA Online for GTA 6 could launch in the first calendar quarter of 2027, meaning January-March. This is also around the time that a PC edition of GTA 6 could arrive, driving even more revenue. For comparison, both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption II launched without online multiplayer support, so it would not be shocking if GTA 6 followed the same playbook. Bank of America has given Take-Two a "buy" rating and a price target of $330. That's below the company's previous $380 target, but still represents an upside of more than 60% based on the current stock price. GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game's file size was recently revealed, and it's absolutely massive.
Title: LOTRO’s Latest Expansion Is Out Now, Nearly 20 Years After The Game Launched Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 18:30:46 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/lotros-latest-expansion-is-out-now-nearly-20-years-after-the-game-launched/ The Lord of the Rings Online, an MMO based on the popular fantasy series, got its latest expansion today, some 19.5 years after the game was originally released in 2007. The new expansion is called The Wolves of Mordor, and as its name suggests, the expansion is focused on the werewolves of Mordor who are going after the people who took down their master, Sauron. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDjEtbJuMP0 The expansion takes players beyond Gorgoroth where they will "gather unlikely allies and uncover the secrets hidden in Mordor's forgotten corners." Players will visit three new regions: Heledhris, Parth Rhavas, and Nan Ogol. In those places, players can learn new skills and receive enhancements, and then mix and match them to create a unique playstyle. The Wolves of Mordor expansion also adds new companions called Neighbors, who have their own unique personality traits and a "dynamic mood system." Players can forge friendships with these companions, and the companions can tell the player stories, provide gifts, and send them on missions. The Wolves of Mordor is available in a $40 standard edition, an $80 Collector's Edition with extra cosmetics, and the $130 Ultimate Fan Bundle. This version comes with even more cosmetics, additional neighbor characters, and XP boosts, among other things. The Lord of the Rings Online has added more than a dozen expansions since it was first released in 2007. The developer Turbine created the game, which began as a subscription-based MMO before pivoting to free-to-play in 2010. Warner Bros. originally published the game, but it changed hands to Daybreak Game Company, with development shifting to Standing Stone Games. The Lord of the Rings Online has been up and running for nearly 20 years, but it's not the longest-running MMO out there. Blizzard's World of Warcraft launched in 2004 and has been running ever since, and has remained subscription-based the whole time. 1997's Ultima Online is also still up and running. The wider Lord of the Rings universe remains in the zeitgeist, as Prime Video's The Rings of Power show comes back for its third season in November. After that, Andy Serkis is directing and starring in the 2027 movie The Hunt for Gollum. There are more Lord of the Rings games in the works as well, including a "deeply immersive" game from Kingdom Come studio Warhorse.
Title: Backrooms Director Reacts To Rumors That He’s Making A Portal Movie Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 13:15:27 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/backrooms-director-wears-a-valve-hoodie-to-interview-and-people-think-hes-teasing-a-portal-movie/ Kane Parsons made one of 2026's most highly acclaimed and commercially successful movies in Backrooms, and everyone wants to know what he'll do next. A lot of people think he's going to make a Portal movie, based on Valve's hit series, and his latest appearance has fans convinced that's on tap. Parsons recently appeared on Kyle Buchanan's podcast wearing a Valve hoodie. Parsons is a huge fan of Valve and its work, so he very well may have been wearing the hoodie like anyone wears a piece of clothing bearing the name or logo of their favorite thing. But others believe it was an intentional choice by Parsons to wear the Valve hoodie to stoke the rumors of a Portal movie. In the interview, Parsons said he's working on three "dream projects" right now, and he can't talk about them. The other people involved might "get me with their space lasers," Parsons joked. He added that these people can "see through walls," and fans are taking that to be another reference to Portal and its gameplay system that allows players to get through walls with a special gun. Parsons said he has "loved" taking meetings with Valve. "Lovely people over there," he said. "Is there anything on the table in any way, shape, or form?" Parsons said of his discussions with Valve. He said he would be totally OK if nothing ever materializes. "It's more having an abstract, creative conversation that could flow in like 30 different directions," he said. https://twitter.com/kylebuchanan/status/2115459007494373675 Don't expect Parsons to make another movie anytime soon, though. He said he's still at the "information-collection phase" and that he wants to choose projects that give him enough "mobility creatively." "I'm not trying to bite off more than I can chew currently. I'm trying to pick things that are going to force me to learn about subjects that I think are foundational to things I want to learn about later in life," he said. Parsons, who is 21 years old, previously told Buchanan directly that he was looking into directing a Portal movie "with a lot of caution and a lot of curiosity." In 2013, Valve announced plans to investigate the possibility of making Portal and Half-Life movies. Star Wars and Star Trek director JJ Abrams later came aboard to make the Portal movie. Warner Bros. was making the movie and hired a writer. In 2021, Abrams said he thought the Portal movie could get made. As things tend to happen in Hollywood, however, the Portal movie never materialized, and neither did the Half-Life film. Valve is known to take its time and be selective with its projects, and that very nature is what Parsons said he likes about Valve. Parsons recently said he respects Valve’s integrity for making things because it wants to, and not just to make money.. Anyone who has seen Backrooms may have noticed that the film’s creaking door sound was borrowed from Portal. Parsons has also said Valve’s Portal series has been his single biggest influence creatively. Parsons said he is so obsessed with Portal that he travels to the game’s fictional setting in his dreams. Many people have pointed out that Backrooms’ set design gives off a lot of Portal vibes. Despite his enthusiasm for Valve and Portal, Parsons is also cautious about adaptations. ā€œNeeding to step into someone else’s view of life tends to damage the initial point for me,ā€ he said in a recent interview. ā€œSo the only ones that I would look at are ones that have shaped my own experience of life so much that I feel like I have something to do with that conversation in the first place.ā€ Parsons is also connected to gaming through his family. His father, Michael Parsons, worked at Telltale Games and now works at Skydance.
Title: Fortnite Is About To Sell Half An Elle Fanning In The Item Shop Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 17:30:41 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fortnite-is-about-to-sell-half-an-elle-fanning-in-the-item-shop/ Fortnite's very last new collaboration for this year's Halloween season is with Predator: Badlands, and it includes the first Predator skin that's ever been available outside the permanently locked Chapter 2 Season 5 battle pass. But the main attraction in this set may actually be the back bling, which is the top half of Thia, the Weyland-Yutani android, played by Elle Fanning, who spends most of the movie strapped to the protagonist's back. The whole Predator: Badlands set hits the Fortnite shop on October 28 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET. It's exactly what fans of Dan Trachtenberg's film have hoped for since the collab was first announced last month. We knew a new Yautja (the in-universe name for the Predator species) skin was on the way, but it wasn't until the cosmetics were granted to content creators on Wednesday that we knew about the Thia back bling. In the film, a damaged Thia, torn in half on a hostile planet by a legendary alien beast called the Kalisk, teams up with a young Yautja called Dek in order to survive the monsters and other, more insidious threats that are hanging around the place. Since Thia spends much of the movie on Dek's back, she makes perfect sense to include as a back bling. Still, she's an extremely unusual one--it's only the second time we've had a human-shaped body as a back bling, after the similar C-3PO one from 2024, and it's the one of only three back blings that use a real person's likeness, after the Lil Tecca plushie and the Tyler the Creator doll. The Thia back bling is tagged as being reactive, which means it should move or make some kind of noise in response to things you do during a match. But it may be bugged right now, because these cosmetics have already been granted to content creators, like PIZ0 and VALtheVAL, and it doesn't seem to do anything in videos that those folks have posted so far. Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 and the Fortnitemares event both wrap up on Halloween night, with the new One Piece-themed mini-season kicking off on Sunday, November 1.
Title: WoW: Forever Content Updates Will Come Slower Than You Might Expect Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 17:16:42 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/wow-forever-content-updates-will-come-slower-than-you-might-expect/ Developer Blizzard's new version of its flagship MMORPG, World of Warcraft: Forever, will receive content updates "every four months," avoiding modern WoW's somewhat controversial eight-week patch cycle. In an interview with IGN, Forever principal game designer Kris Zierhut revealed the content schedule plan and explained Blizzard's reasoning. He said WoW Classic's Season of Discovery received updates "way too fast," every 8-10 weeks. Since the launch of WoW's Dragonflight expansion in 2022, an eight-week update schedule is also what modern WoW operates on. Its more frequent patch schedule means there's always something new to do, but has been criticized by some players due to the buggy nature of recent updates and lackluster content. https://youtu.be/9AlEQvn4dlc?si=JHSRubJ8HwfkO_Lw On the other hand, some older expansions, like Warlords of Draenor and Shadowlands, saw content droughts that lasted six months or more, leaving players hungry for something new to do. Forever will split the difference.Ā  "We're fairly convinced the correct [update] rate is something closer to once every four months or 17 weeks or three times a year," Zierhut said.  Just because major updates will be coming every four or so months doesn't mean there won't be anything new to do between patches. Zierhut said some content will unlock partway through those four-month patch cycles. "It's not just patch day comes [around], here's a content fire hose, and now we're silent for four months," he said. "A lot of that is, 'Hey, there's a time event calendar that gradually unlocks things and opens them up over those four months' to give things a little bit more life instead of all at once." According to a Forever content roadmap released during BlizzCon 2026, the latest version of Blizzard's MMORPG will receive its first major update in Spring 2027. That update will add new raids, dungeons, and quests, and mark the start of a new PvP season. Another major update is slated for Summer 2027 and will add yet another new raid, revamp an existing raid from WoW Classic, add two additional dungeons, see a new legendary item and quest chain, and introduce updates to the game's professions and its new Legacy system. WoW: Forever launches on November 4, but you can technically go ahead and make your character now if you paid for the game's new playable race. With less than a week before launch, Blizzard has been busy announcing changes and improvements ahead of its release, with major changes to racial abilities, improvements to layering, and the addition of a new server option.Ā

Title: Backrooms Director Teases Next Dream Projects — Is Portal One of Them? Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 19:14:30 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/backrooms-director-kane-parsons-portal-movie-valve-rumors/ Since the buzzy horror film Backroomspropelled Kane Parsons to instant fame, many are eager to know what the young director is working on next. Beyond a confirmed Backrooms sequel, many are convinced he will bring another world of corporate drudgery to the screen: it seems quite possible he'll helm a Portal movie. The young director has made it very clear that he’s a fan of Valve, previously citing the Portal games as a major inspiration for Backrooms and its sterile aesthetic.
Title: Resident Evil Lead Teases Series’ ā€˜Conclusion’ Coming In the Next 10 Years Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 18:34:23 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/resident-evil-capcom-horror-could-end-soon/ Resident Evil is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Capcom's iconic horror series has been a foundational part of the survival horro genre, and it's still delivering amazing entries, such as this year's Resident Evil Requiem. Still, that doesn't mean it will be around forever. With remakes of past titles catching up to new mainline games, the series may be entering a new phase, which may bring about its conclusion.
Title: Modern Warfare 4’s Multiplayer Is the Best Call of Duty Has Been in 7 Years Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 18:00:18 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/mw4-modern-warfare-4-multiplayer-review/ After two years of back-to-back Black Ops games, Modern Warfare 4was always going to feel like a breath of fresh air. Even though the differences between the two series are subtle, the minor tweaks to movement, gunplay, and aesthetic are always noticeable to anyone who plays year in, year out. And I've always been a Modern Warfare kid at heart, from way back in 2007, when I lived and breathed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for a year straight. The last Call of Duty that truly captivated me was 2019's Modern Warfare.
Title: How to get Tifa and Barret's outfits in FFXIV Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 17:50:11 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/ffxiv-tifa-barret-outfit-glamour-how-to-get-ff7-remake-event/ Tifa and Barret's outfits are the real stars in Final Fantasy 14's event in the Keybound Brawlers, a new collaboration with Final Fantasy 7. Unlike Cloud's outfit, which is based on the Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children design and has been in the game for ages, these two are based on the FF7 remake project. To get them and many other FF7-themed cosmetics and items, you must survive the typing brawls and earn a special currency.
Title: Major 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Game Finally Lives Up To The Hype Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 17:24:30 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/best-avatar-game-legends-fighting-switch-2-aang-korra-october-update/ With its fantastic animation and incredible attention to detail, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Gamefelt like it was destined for greatness. But now, three months later, Avatar Legends looks like it might to live up to its original promise.

To share more about our creative process behind the new design, here are insights from Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi from our Color, Material, and Finish design team. “We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers. We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.ā€ – Leo Cardoso ā€œThe high-gloss clear finish extends across the back of the controller, offering a look at the technology that powers the DualSense controller while maintaining a sleek, monochromatic look. The metallic finish on the middle cover brings the contrasting surfaces together for a premium appearance that feels consistent with the PS5 generation. To complement the futuristic aesthetic, we carefully selected three distinct colors: a vibrant orange that subtly takes on a rosy hue where the transparent material overlaps, a deep hunter green that gains depth through its transparency, and a cool-toned storm gray.ā€ – Satoshi Aoyagi View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image The Prism Collection DualSense wireless controllers will be available globally for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $84.99 USD / Ā„12,480 (including tax) / €84.99 / Ā£74.99.* The matching PS5 console covers will be available exclusively directly from PlayStation where available** and in other regions in limited quantities through select retailers for a RRP of $74.99 USD / Ā„9,980(including tax) / €74.99 / Ā£64.99.* The Prism Collection launches starting on February 4, 2027. Title: Suit up as Astro Bot in Rayman Legends Retold Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 13:01:45 +0000 Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/10/28/suit-up-as-astro-bot-in-rayman-legends-retold/ Rayman Legends Retold is coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro on December 3, and Astro Bot’s iconic design is featured in the game as an exclusive costume, bringing the iconic platformer pairing full circle after Rayman made a cameo in Astro Bot (2024). The PS5-exclusive Astro Bot costume in Rayman Legends Retold will be available for free on players’ first visit to Victor Velour, the game’s resident tailor, at his costume shop. The outfit is once again a collaboration between Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Montpellier, and Team Asobi. We sat down with Guillaume Arvieu, Art and World Director on Rayman Legends Retold, and Quentin Chaillet, Lead Character Artist, to discuss the collaboration, how the costume was created, and the DNA shared by two platforming icons. Play Video Talk us through the Astro Bot skin design in Rayman Legends Retold – how did you approach capturing the essence of Astro Bot within your own art style?   Chaillet: One of the biggest challenges was bringing Astro Bot’s sleek, futuristic aesthetic into Rayman’s universe. Rayman’s designs traditionally have a more handcrafted, organic feel, so introducing these glossy surfaces, metallic details, and high-tech materials was something quite different from what we’re used to. We wanted to stay as faithful as possible to Astro Bot’s iconic design while making sure it still felt authentically Rayman. That meant carefully adapting the shapes and proportions, especially his large nose, no arms / legs, and his big shoes, which are such recognizable parts of Rayman’s silhouette. The goal was to incorporate as many of Astro Bot’s signature details as possible, from the reflective metallic parts and glowing blue elements to the smooth white surfaces, without losing Rayman’s personality or expressiveness. It was a really interesting exercise in finding the right balance between two very different visual identities and making them feel like they naturally belong together. In your own words, what DNA do Astro Bot and Rayman share?   Arvieu: Astro Bot has truly established itself as a major player in the platforming genre, with an identity of its own. What I particularly appreciate is how generous the game is: the richness of its worlds, the creativity of its scenarios, and the constant joy of discovering new gameplay ideas.  This is something we also find in Rayman. Both games offer incredibly rich fantasy worlds, filled with diverse biomes that invite players to explore, discover, and experience a sense of wonder. They also place great importance on fluid movement, a variety of interactions, and the joy of mastering the possibilities available to the player. Beyond these similarities, I think our two franchises share, above all, the same spirit. They’re both colorful, creative games that are full of surprises and driven by positive values. They aim to evoke emotions, make people smile, and rekindle that almost instinctive sense of joy we feel when discovering a platformer bursting with ideas. These are games that make you feel good. They remind us that video games can be a wonderful source of joy, wonder, and shared experiences, whatever our age. Why do you think collaborations like this are important?  Arvieu: Since the early days of video games, creators have been inspiring one another. An idea, a gameplay mechanic, a character, or an artistic approach can spark new ideas and open up unexpected possibilities. It’s an ongoing exchange that fuels our collective creativity. Collaborations like this make that exchange tangible. They allow us to celebrate the work of other teams, bring together worlds that are close to our hearts, and create moments players might never have imagined otherwise. It’s a virtuous circle: everyone brings their own perspective, ideas, and expertise to the table, and we all grow from the experience. Ultimately, it’s the players who benefit, discovering new encounters and sharing in the joy of seeing their favorite characters come together. Rayman has a long history behind him and holds a special place in the hearts of many players, particularly those who first discovered him on the original PlayStation. Astro Bot, meanwhile, celebrates this legacy while establishing its own identity with a new generation of players. Seeing these two worlds come together is therefore also a way of bringing different generations of players together. It’s a little nod to the history of video games, but also a wonderful illustration of the medium’s ability to reinvent itself and continue to surprise us. Rayman Legends Retold is coming to PS5 and PS5 Pro December 3, 2026. Embark on a bold reimagining of the beloved platformer, with new visuals and a retold story. Play solo or up to 4player couch coop, explore a mysterious new realm, jam through new musical stages, and more.

Title: Cyberpunk trading sim Probably Stolen is about running a kiosk in a space station full of gangs, megacorps, and secret rogue cyborgs Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 17:29:10 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/cyberpunk-trading-sim-probably-stolen-is-about-running-a-kiosk-in-a-space-station-full-of-gangs-megacorps-and-secret-rogue-cyborgs I have so far not been shivved, shanked, brain fried, hazed, wasted, ironed, short-circed, flat-lined or even complained at in Probably Stolen - Cyberpunk Shopkeeper Sim, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. In this neuromantic kiosk game from Questing Goose Studio, you're a new store owner aboard a backwater space station. Each day, you roll up the shutter and do business with a procession of shady types, ranging from janitors with unappetising beards to sexy cowled folk with Main Character tattoos. The basics are simple enough, for all the overwhelmingly menu-led presentation: buy what you can afford, according to your instinct for the wider market, sell what you can fit into the customer's budget. But things quickly get complicated. Read more

Title: "We are more concerned about the risks of moving too slowly": Epic get more specific about genAI use in Unreal Engine and Fortnite development Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 16:49:39 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/we-are-more-concerned-about-the-risks-of-moving-too-slowly-epic-get-more-specific-about-genai-use-in-unreal-engine-and-fortnite-development Epic Games are, dunno if you've heard, on a bit of a genAI kick at the moment. It's been tough to notice unless you listen very hard. Tim Sweeney's lips have been sealed and no reports have spewed forth. Sark aside, to this point Epic have had far more provocative soundbites and weird marketing lingo to offer than specific detail about how they're using genAI in different parts of their business. Title: Subnautica 2 dev thinks early access teams should worry less about adding features that are "very ugly, incomplete, or prototype" Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 15:40:46 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/subnautica-2-dev-thinks-early-access-teams-should-worry-less-about-adding-features-that-are-very-ugly-incomplete-or-prototype Subnautica 2 creative director Anthony Gallegos has spoken about what Unknown Worlds have learned over their many years working in Steam early access, exhorting other devs to add new features "as soon as possible" and experiment with them right under the flared nostrils of players. Damn the torpedoes, etcetera. The original Subnautica is one of the oldest Steam early access success stories, launching in 2014 a month or so after the program went live. Many of the final version's better qualities, including the pivot to horror epitomised by the spectacle of a Reaper grabbing your submarine's face, reflect observation of players and streamers in the wilds. Title: Hot Wax sets fire to the Tetris playbook with slow-burn puzzle mechanics and a dollop of eldritch menace Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 13:30:00 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/hot-wax-sets-fire-to-the-tetris-playbook-with-slow-burn-puzzle-mechanics-and-a-dollop-of-eldritch-menace Over the past couple of weeks, I've been conscious of an eerie background humming and hissing. For a while I thought it was just tinnitus, brought on by one too many listens of Control's Ashtray Maze OST, but then I realised that it was actually RPS regular quasiotter whispering in my ear about Hot Wax, which launches on Steam this week after a spell of Itch.io exclusivity. It's the new arcade puzzler from PUNKCAKE Délicieux, otherwise known for inflicting shotguns on chess and forcing the alphabet to wear trousers in the name of archaeology, somehow. Hot Wax is actually quite straightforward by PUNKCAKE standards. It's Tetris, but all the blocks are candles, and rather than filling a line on the grid to clear blocks, you have to plant unpredictably dropped flames on wicks to slowly sizzle the mass away. Relatively straightforward, yes, but fiddly in practice. Did I mention that you're doing all this in a temple, under the eye of a "not unfriendly" eldritch god? Read more
