Title: PlayStation Plus Free Games For November 2026 Revealed Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 15:38:07 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-plus-essential-free-games-for-november-2026/ PlayStation has revealed this month's batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. All PS Plus members will be able to claim a trio of freebies starting November 3: Dead Island 2, Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered, and Monster Train 2. If you haven't claimed October's PlayStation Plus free games yet, make sure to do so before next Tuesday. Long considered vaporware after its initial reveal in 2014, Dead Island 2 was eventually released in 2023. It's a first-person zombie-slaying game with a surprisingly deep RPG system, impressive amounts of gore, and at least one incredibly creepy undead clown boss fight. It was previously made available through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in 2024, but it was removed earlier this year. In case you missed it then, now is your chance to check it out. Tomb Raider fans looking to celebrate Lara Croft's legacy can grab this compilation of classic games. It includes Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, all remastered with updated graphics. If you're feeling nostalgic, you can also switch back to the original polygonal look of these old-school games. Lastly, Monster Train 2 is a real gem of a deckbuilding roguelite. The original game was pretty good, but the sequel improves on it with new gameplay features, a rich art direction, deep build variety, and a pretty rad soundtrack. PlayStation Plus November 2026 monthly free games Available November 3 - 30. PlayStation Plus November 2026 games Dead Island 2 (PS5, PS4) Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered (PS5, PS4) Monster Train 2 (PS5) Don't forget: new games were also added to the PlayStation Game Catalog this month. More games are leaving the subscription service soon, so you have limited time to play Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 5, and several other titles.
Title: If GTA 6 Beats Football On Thanksgiving, That’s A Win, EA Founder Says Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 15:42:37 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/if-gta-6-beats-football-on-thanksgiving-thats-a-win-ea-founder-says/ Rockstar's GTA 6 is expected to be a giant success commercially, but just how big does the game need to be to actually be successful following a decade of development and perhaps one of the biggest development budgets ever? We don't know, because Take-Two doesn't disclose that kind of information, but EA founder Bing Gordon has his own thoughts. On the Sozzi Unleashed show, Gordon said it would be "mind-blowing" if GTA 6 can reach 75 million copies sold. How did he arrive at that number? Gordon said he was basing this on a number--750 million--a figure he thought a previous GTA 6 trailer reached. If GTA 6 can sell 10% of that, or 75 million copies, that would be a success, he said. Gordon was referencing "the preview video," which might have been the GTA 6 Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix and then landed on YouTube. No single video for GTA 6 has 750 million views, but it's not a stretch to think GTA 6 videos distributed everywhere on the internet have reached that number collectively. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klc0fQmAL6k Also in the interview, Gordon said another sign of success for GTA 6 is if people play the game instead of watching football on Thanksgiving, which is just a few days after GTA 6 releases. "I think from my point of view, what success for GTA 6 is going to be on Thanksgiving Day after eating your turkey, you don't watch football, you play GTA," he said. Of course, it's not a one or the other situation; people will no doubt play GTA 6 and watch football. Gordon also went on to point out how, in the movie business, a film reaching $300 million is great and $1 billion is obscenely great. Video games can reach those numbers, too, but the film and video game businesses are not directly comparable for many reasons. GTA 6 is tracking to be a huge hit. Sensor Tower's data claims the game has sold about 7 million copies thus far, generating close to $700 million in revenue. The same company is projecting 25 million preorders by launch, which would work out to about $2 billion in revenue by launch. The latest data from Circana shows that nearly 1 in 3 console and PC gamers in the US plan to buy GTA 6, and that's the highest purchase intent ever recorded.
Title: Every October 2026 Nintendo Indie World Game You Can Play Right Now Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 15:28:35 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/every-october-2026-nintendo-indie-world-game-you-can-play-right-now/ The latest Nintendo Indie World Showcase highlighted several independent games arriving on Switch and Switch 2 in the coming months, and you can try some of them starting today. Four demos and a full game shadow-dropped on the Nintendo eShop, including a fantastical action-adventure and a coin machine roguelike that's sure to hook you. Winds of Viridia demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Ldq6eq0nQ It's hard to deny that Winds of Viridia is giving off some light Breath of the Wild vibes, with a bright art style and a major focus on exploration. Expect plenty of beasts to battle and secret areas to uncover in classic action-adventure style. You can get a taste of Winds of Viridia yourself in a demo before the full game releases on Switch 2 in early 2027. Haunted Paws demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr44hO6vdZY The premise of Haunted Paws sounds a little like Luigi's Mansion, if Luigi were replaced by two dogs. This cooperative adventure will have two players solve puzzles and encounter strange creatures as they search for their missing human. The full game, which supports a friend pass to let a buddy play with you for free, comes out on Switch and Switch 2 in May 2027. Petal Runner demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87voZD9tsao The nostalgia-heavy Petal Runner recalls pixel art from the Game Boy era, utilizing it for a deeper, emotional story. Taking place in a "solarpunk open world," Petal Runner has players in the role of a motorcycle courier who delivers digital pets. The demo is playable today, and the game launches on Switch 2 on March 8, 2027. Raccoin: Chaos Max Edition demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_X1If_eHuI Turn your Switch 2 into a dopamine machine with Raccoin, a deckbuilder roguelike centering on a coin-pushing arcade game. Use special coins and other modifiers to make that number go up. The Chaos Max Edition of the game on Switch 2 releases on November 10, and it'll come with a Switch 2-exclusive in-game cabinet skin and mouse-control support. Bao Bao's Cozy Cleaning Services https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6SwwzG_ag0 There's arguably nothing that sounds more cozy than playing as a panda in a powerwashing simulator game, and that's exactly what Bao Bao's Cozy Cleaning Services delivers. The pixel-art game allows you and up to three other friends to clean up various pastel-colored environments with zero time pressure. It's out for Switch today.
Title: GTA 6 Reviews: Here’s When The Scores Might Come In Date: Wed, 14 Oct 2026 18:53:45 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-reviews-when-they-could-be-released/ Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 6 releases on November 19, but when will you be able to read reviews? According to historical precedent and a new report, reviews for the open-world crime game should be available before launch. Insider Gaming reported that reviews for GTA 6 will be posted at some point before November 19, but the exact timing is unknown for now. According to insider NateTheHate, copies of the game were sent to reviewers already. He said people can start posting their reviews on November 18. The GTA 6 file size has been revealed as well, and as you might have guessed, it is a truly massive game. A scene from GTA 6. What history tells us The last GTA game, GTA 5, was released on September 17, 2013, and reviews for the game were published starting on September 16. For Rockstar's next game, 2018's Red Dead Redemption II, reviews also went live one day prior to release. This doesn't necessarily mean Rockstar will follow the same playbook for GTA 6, however. Nothing is confirmed at this stage. GTA 6 launches on November 19--unless it's delayed again--for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It's expected to be the biggest game of 2026 and maybe all time, and it's reportedly on pace to earn $2 billion in revenue before launch. A lot of new details about GTA 6 recently came to light, including how the game originally had a bigger scope and could have launched sooner, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s response to a big delay, and the absurd amount of detail in the game. We also learned that GTA 6 did not in fact cost $1.5 billion to make and that an entire studio was spun up to create NPCs. Rockstar also discussed how its GTA 6 realism experiment began with beer and sandwiches and that the studio says it won’t need another eight years to release its next game. Beyond all of this, Rockstar reacted to the game's high-profile hack in 2022.
Title: Nintendo Indie World’s Weirdest Game Got Me To Relax Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 15:24:40 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-indie-worlds-weirdest-game-got-me-to-relax/ I often feel compelled to beeline my way through games--I'll do plenty of optional quests, but rarely do I find myself slowing down to take in the sights or just goof around. It's pedal to the metal at all times. My Arms Are Longer Now, which was featured in today's Nintendo Indie World stream, is the rare game to break me out of that compulsion. A demo was recently released for My Arms Are Longer Now, and despite consisting of just the game's opening level, I spent much longer with it than I would have expected. I often treat demos as a quick taste to get an impression of something before moving on, especially during Next Fests. In the case of My Arms Are Longer Now's demo, I did everything I could and relished in messing around, whether or not doing so connected to any actual objective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbOq8B5kCOU My Arms Are Longer Now is a comedic adventure game of sorts. You control an arm that can extend to unimaginable and unsettling lengths and are tasked with a variety of objectives. In its first level, you ultimately need to steal a briefcase, though doing so requires you to gain access to the right train car, avoid a guard, pickpocket the right passengers, and so on. Along the way, you can steal most everything else that isn't nailed down, slap bystanders around, and generally engage in hijinks. What makes this so enjoyable is the voice cast, which is made up of dozens of Australian comedians (including Millie Holten, who appeared in the Indie World stream--now's a great time to check out her comedy group's Descent series). The juxtaposition of this disgustingly long arm and these passengers' subdued reactions to the crimes that it commits were consistently hilarious, and I wanted to poke and prod at every element on the train to be sure I got to experience everything the game allowed me to do.  Sometimes that led to amusing discoveries--be sure you get up to the roof and explore the full length of the train to see what awaits--while other times my exploration led me nowhere. But I realized partway through the demo that I was having a great time investigating everything, in a way I often don't allow myself to because I'm always in a rush to move on to whatever is next. It's a testament to the silliness of the world Toot Games is putting together here that I was able to just chill out and appreciate the world I was in. My Arms Are Longer Now releases on March 11, 2027 for both Switch and Switch 2, as well as PC. The Steam demo is still available and well worth checking out.

Title: 26 Years Later, BioWare’s Most Influential RPG Is Still Shaping My Life Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 15:00:18 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/bioware-baldurs-gate-2-best-game-rpg-legacy/ The game was Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. The T-shirt, which came with the collector’s edition, sported the game’s logo: two mirrored heads, one in light, one in darkness (the exact meaning of the image has been debated for the past 26 years, with no conclusive answer). I was the kid, of course. Soon after, I bought the game and, for the first time, immersed myself in the world of the Forgotten Realms, brought to life in digital form by BioWare. Almost three decades later, BioWare is gone. The sad news made me reflect on how Baldur’s Gate 2 and the other computer RPGs they developed between the 1990s and the early 2000s marked the trajectory of my life.

Multiplayer pairs precise combat with fluid movement, a dozen core 6v6 maps from around the world and battlegrounds that are shaped by the campaign’s global conflict. The DMZ extraction mode sends players into contested territory to recover valuable technology, weigh objectives and decide when to get out. Loot, fight, negotiate, betray and extract — it’s all fair in the cloud and battleground. Ultimate members can now experience the campaign with ray tracing, powered by newly added GeForce RTX 5080-class performance across PCs, Macs, handhelds, mobile devices, browsers, supported TVs and more. These new settings are available in the GeForce NOW app under settings, for Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and Steam OS platforms. Members can read here for more details on using the feature with their membership tier, and more information on how to get the smoothest cloud game streaming for some games on GeForce NOW. New enemy variants keep encounters fresh, while a new biome raises the player level cap to 50 and equipment cap to 55.Ā  GeForce NOW offers Enshrouded 1.0 ready to play in the cloud at launch across supported devices. Skip the 60GB local install to save precious storage space, then step into the Shroud without waiting for downloads or needing to make room for the update. Let the Bolts Fly Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is now streaming on GeForce NOW. The brutal, fast-paced sequel to the retro first-person shooter brings more enemies, more weapons and new ways to purge. Picking up directly after the original game, a branching single-player campaign sends the fight to grimdark new worlds. Title: First look inside the Prism Collection, with three new transparent designs for PS5 accessories Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 15:00:33 +0000 Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/10/28/first-look-inside-the-prism-collection-with-three-new-transparent-designs-for-ps5-accessories/ Get ready to see your PS5 console and DualSense controller in a whole new way. Today, we are pleased to introduce the Prism Collection, featuring three striking transparent designs for DualSense wireless controllers and PS5 console covers: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray. The new collection was inspired by our design teams’ interest to bring a transparent appearance to PS5, and give players a closer look into the design and craftsmanship behind our DualSense controllers and PlayStation 5 consoles. From bold Flare Orange to elegant Emerald Green and stylish Graphite Gray, each color is finished with a premium glossy sheen for a sleek and elevated design. To share more about our creative process behind the new design, here are insights from Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi from our Color, Material, and Finish design team. “We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers. We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.ā€ – Leo Cardoso ā€œThe high-gloss clear finish extends across the back of the controller, offering a look at the technology that powers the DualSense controller while maintaining a sleek, monochromatic look. The metallic finish on the middle cover brings the contrasting surfaces together for a premium appearance that feels consistent with the PS5 generation. To complement the futuristic aesthetic, we carefully selected three distinct colors: a vibrant orange that subtly takes on a rosy hue where the transparent material overlaps, a deep hunter green that gains depth through its transparency, and a cool-toned storm gray.ā€ – Satoshi Aoyagi View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image The Prism Collection DualSense wireless controllers will be available globally for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $84.99 USD / Ā„12,480 (including tax) / €84.99 / Ā£74.99.* The matching PS5 console covers will be available exclusively directly from PlayStation where available** and in other regions in limited quantities through select retailers for a RRP of $74.99 USD / Ā„9,980(including tax) / €74.99 / Ā£64.99.* The Prism Collection launches starting on February 4, 2027. Title: Suit up as Astro Bot in Rayman Legends Retold Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 13:01:45 +0000 Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/10/28/suit-up-as-astro-bot-in-rayman-legends-retold/ Rayman Legends Retold is coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro on December 3, and Astro Bot’s iconic design is featured in the game as an exclusive costume, bringing the iconic platformer pairing full circle after Rayman made a cameo in Astro Bot (2024). The PS5-exclusive Astro Bot costume in Rayman Legends Retold will be available for free on players’ first visit to Victor Velour, the game’s resident tailor, at his costume shop. The outfit is once again a collaboration between Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Montpellier, and Team Asobi. We sat down with Guillaume Arvieu, Art and World Director on Rayman Legends Retold, and Quentin Chaillet, Lead Character Artist, to discuss the collaboration, how the costume was created, and the DNA shared by two platforming icons. Play Video Talk us through the Astro Bot skin design in Rayman Legends Retold – how did you approach capturing the essence of Astro Bot within your own art style?   Chaillet: One of the biggest challenges was bringing Astro Bot’s sleek, futuristic aesthetic into Rayman’s universe. Rayman’s designs traditionally have a more handcrafted, organic feel, so introducing these glossy surfaces, metallic details, and high-tech materials was something quite different from what we’re used to. We wanted to stay as faithful as possible to Astro Bot’s iconic design while making sure it still felt authentically Rayman. That meant carefully adapting the shapes and proportions, especially his large nose, no arms / legs, and his big shoes, which are such recognizable parts of Rayman’s silhouette. The goal was to incorporate as many of Astro Bot’s signature details as possible, from the reflective metallic parts and glowing blue elements to the smooth white surfaces, without losing Rayman’s personality or expressiveness. It was a really interesting exercise in finding the right balance between two very different visual identities and making them feel like they naturally belong together. In your own words, what DNA do Astro Bot and Rayman share?   Arvieu: Astro Bot has truly established itself as a major player in the platforming genre, with an identity of its own. What I particularly appreciate is how generous the game is: the richness of its worlds, the creativity of its scenarios, and the constant joy of discovering new gameplay ideas.  This is something we also find in Rayman. Both games offer incredibly rich fantasy worlds, filled with diverse biomes that invite players to explore, discover, and experience a sense of wonder. They also place great importance on fluid movement, a variety of interactions, and the joy of mastering the possibilities available to the player. Beyond these similarities, I think our two franchises share, above all, the same spirit. They’re both colorful, creative games that are full of surprises and driven by positive values. They aim to evoke emotions, make people smile, and rekindle that almost instinctive sense of joy we feel when discovering a platformer bursting with ideas. These are games that make you feel good. They remind us that video games can be a wonderful source of joy, wonder, and shared experiences, whatever our age. Why do you think collaborations like this are important?  Arvieu: Since the early days of video games, creators have been inspiring one another. An idea, a gameplay mechanic, a character, or an artistic approach can spark new ideas and open up unexpected possibilities. It’s an ongoing exchange that fuels our collective creativity. Collaborations like this make that exchange tangible. They allow us to celebrate the work of other teams, bring together worlds that are close to our hearts, and create moments players might never have imagined otherwise. It’s a virtuous circle: everyone brings their own perspective, ideas, and expertise to the table, and we all grow from the experience. Ultimately, it’s the players who benefit, discovering new encounters and sharing in the joy of seeing their favorite characters come together. Rayman has a long history behind him and holds a special place in the hearts of many players, particularly those who first discovered him on the original PlayStation. Astro Bot, meanwhile, celebrates this legacy while establishing its own identity with a new generation of players. Seeing these two worlds come together is therefore also a way of bringing different generations of players together. It’s a little nod to the history of video games, but also a wonderful illustration of the medium’s ability to reinvent itself and continue to surprise us. Rayman Legends Retold is coming to PS5 and PS5 Pro December 3, 2026. Embark on a bold reimagining of the beloved platformer, with new visuals and a retold story. Play solo or up to 4player couch coop, explore a mysterious new realm, jam through new musical stages, and more.

Title: Aloft and Conan Exiles Enhanced launch on PS5 in early 2027 Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2026 16:00:43 +0000 Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/10/27/aloft-and-conan-exiles-enhanced-launch-on-ps5-in-early-2027/ We’ve just launched Dune: Awakening on PlayStation 5, but we’re only getting started. We’re excited to bring two more of our open-world survival adventures to PlayStation 5 in early 2027. Soar the skies in Aloft, then visit the unforgiving Exiled Lands in Conan Exiles Enhanced. Aloft: Build a home among the clouds Play Video After six years of heartfelt development with a team that grew from a small group of friends to the Astrolabe of today, we are ecstatic to reveal that our cozy co-op sandbox survival game in the clouds, Aloft, makes its console debut with Funcom as a publisher on PS5 early 2027. The PS5 version includes all the updates released during the game’s Early Access period on PC, as well as the 1.0 experience, bringing our complete vision of Aloft to life, filled with new content, stories, and so many improvements. Turn floating islands into skyships, build a home among the clouds, and explore a colorful open world alone or with friends. Since launching in Early Access, we have introduced five major content updates to Aloft, featuring new wildlife, puzzles, combat improvements, glider customization, expanded exploration, and much more. Discover lost knowledge, cure fungal corruption, care for your animals, brave hurricanes as you restore the ecosystem and uncover new adventures across the skies. Launching the complete game on PS5 marks an exciting new chapter for us. Aloft has always been a passion project fueled by the unwavering support and love of our community. Reaching this milestone is incredibly exciting, as this will mark a new era for the game – we really hope you will be part of our flight. Conan Exiles Enhanced: Survive the brutal, yet beautiful Exiled Lands We are thrilled to announce that Conan Exiles Enhanced is coming to PS5. All players who own Conan Exiles on PlayStation will get the Enhanced version for PlayStation 5 for free. Both PS4 and PS5 versions will be available to purchase. Buy one version and get the other for free. All your purchased Bazaar items and DLC will also carry over from PS4 to PS5 seamlessly. The Enhanced edition brings improved environments, characters, lighting, and effects, along with a redesigned UI and performance and quality-of-life improvements. Play Video The update also makes exploring the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah expansion a more seamless experience. Isle of Siptah remains a separate purchase. The new Legacy of the Giant-Kings story arc will be included in the console launch of Conan Exiles Enhanced, bringing an exciting new narrative experience to console players from day one. Players will be able to uncover the mysteries of the ancient Giant-Kings, explore their forgotten legacy, and embark on a journey filled with new challenges, discoveries, and rewards. Its inclusion ensures console players can experience this major story arc as part of the enhanced Conan Exiles experience at launch. We’ll share release dates and more details for both games at a later date. Wishlist both games now at PlayStation Store.

Title: Subnautica 2 dev thinks early access teams should worry less about adding features that are "very ugly, incomplete, or prototype" Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 15:40:46 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/subnautica-2-dev-thinks-early-access-teams-should-worry-less-about-adding-features-that-are-very-ugly-incomplete-or-prototype Subnautica 2 creative director Anthony Gallegos has spoken about what Unknown Worlds have learned over their many years working in Steam early access, exhorting other devs to add new features "as soon as possible" and experiment with them right under the flared nostrils of players. Damn the torpedoes, etcetera. The original Subnautica is one of the oldest Steam early access success stories, launching in 2014 a month or so after the program went live. Many of the final version's better qualities, including the pivot to horror epitomised by the spectacle of a Reaper grabbing your submarine's face, reflect observation of players and streamers in the wilds. Title: Hot Wax sets fire to the Tetris playbook with slow-burn puzzle mechanics and a dollop of eldritch menace Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 13:30:00 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/hot-wax-sets-fire-to-the-tetris-playbook-with-slow-burn-puzzle-mechanics-and-a-dollop-of-eldritch-menace Over the past couple of weeks, I've been conscious of an eerie background humming and hissing. For a while I thought it was just tinnitus, brought on by one too many listens of Control's Ashtray Maze OST, but then I realised that it was actually RPS regular quasiotter whispering in my ear about Hot Wax, which launches on Steam this week after a spell of Itch.io exclusivity. It's the new arcade puzzler from PUNKCAKE Délicieux, otherwise known for inflicting shotguns on chess and forcing the alphabet to wear trousers in the name of archaeology, somehow. Hot Wax is actually quite straightforward by PUNKCAKE standards. It's Tetris, but all the blocks are candles, and rather than filling a line on the grid to clear blocks, you have to plant unpredictably dropped flames on wicks to slowly sizzle the mass away. Relatively straightforward, yes, but fiddly in practice. Did I mention that you're doing all this in a temple, under the eye of a "not unfriendly" eldritch god? Read more
Title: "We basically rewrote the entire State of Decay game": Undead Labs spent years trying to make State of Decay 3 into a full-blown zombie apocalypse MMO Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 12:30:00 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/we-basically-rewrote-the-entire-state-of-decay-game-undead-labs-spent-years-trying-to-make-state-of-decay-3-into-a-full-blown-zombie-apocalypse-mmo State of Decay 3 was announced with a snazzy cinematic trailer all the way back in 2020. The open-world zombie game was due to move to colder climes, where you would face undead deer and survive the frigid elements. We've since learned that the teaser bore very little resemblance to what was actually being worked on, and was pushed out the door to plump up a Microsoft showcase. However, what the teaser also didn't reveal was that Undead Labs' ideas for the game were much larger in scope than the two survival games that came before. For several years they were trying to make State of Decay 3 into an MMO that captured the scale of a global zombie apocalypse. Read more
Title: "Creation without a creator": Pathologic 3's devs have refused to patch an invisible apple tree, and for a blissful moment, I thought they were lying to poison Google's AI Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 11:40:49 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/creation-without-a-creator-pathologic-3s-devs-have-refused-to-patch-an-invisible-apple-tree-and-for-a-blissful-moment-i-thought-they-were-lying-to-poison-googles-ai Magnificent, depressing plague colony fable Pathologic 3 has received a sizeable game update that adds some new difficulty modes, a photo feature, and some new, worryingly folkloric methods of defeating a murky embodiment of disease. Developers Ice Pick Lodge have also staunchly refused to remove an invisible apple tree, describing this apparently "famous" bug as a hallmark of a game whose "symbolic nature has almost overtaken its function as a product". This appears to be the last major update for Pathologic 3, so that invisible apple tree is staying in the game forever. I confess, when I first read the Steam blog in question, I doubted. The thing about invisible apple trees is that they are quite easy to confuse with apple trees that are simply not there. Pathologic in general is a house of lies: as Quintin Smith (RPS in peace) put it in his legendary Butchering Pathologic trilogy, "absolutely everybody has an angle, everyone's bending the truth and trying to twist you round their fingers." Pathologic 3 especially is a purgatorial time travel story that must be continually rewritten, a crock of festering rumours enclosed by an enormous, phantom theatre. As such, I read Ice-Pick's typically professorial account of the "invisible apple tree" with intense suspicion. Read more
Title: Leaked Mass Effect 5 trailer is being "re-scored" by one of the original trilogy's composers, so folks can get a taste of his musical vision for the game Date: Wed, 28 Oct 2026 10:31:35 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/leaked-mass-effect-5-trailer-is-being-re-scored-by-one-of-the-original-trilogys-composers-so-folks-can-get-a-taste-of-his-musical-vision-for-the-game One of the composers who contributed to the scores of the original Mass Effect trilogy has decided to re-soundtrack the Mass Effect Universe trailer which leaked following the game's cancellation and BioWare's closure. Sam Hulick's aim, aside from making this year's N7 Day a tiny bit less depressing if he can deliver as planned, is to share some of his "musical vision" for the RPG. Read more
