Title: Pokemon Unite Is Shutting Down After Nearly Six Years
Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2026 12:18:05 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/pokemon-unite-is-shutting-down-after-nearly-six-years/
Nintendo has announced that Pokemon Unite, its Pokemon-themed MOBA for mobile devices and Switch consoles, will be shutting down on March 23, 2027. The game will go offline just days after the Aeos Crown 2027 tournament, and Nintendo has stopped selling the game's premium in-game currency, Aeos Gems.
"We offer our sincerest gratitude to the many Trainers who have played since service started for the Nintendo Switch version on July 21, 2021," The Pokemon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group announced in a press statement. "We hope you continue to enjoy Pokemon Unite until the final day of service."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFtMRJAc3z8
Pokemon Unite's online matches will be a thing of the past after March, but players can download a new Library update that lets them view their career progress and stats, as well as play practice rounds. While the game had a fairly sizable audience, Pokemon Unite always seemed like a forgotten part of the Pokemon empire, and it failed to make the cut for the 2027 Pokemon World Championships. A fairly serviceable MOBA, it never seemed to catch on like other Pokemon spin-offs, and fans questioned how long it would run before Nintendo pulled the plug.
With the release of the battle-focused Pokemon Champions earlier this year, the writing may have been on the wall for Pokemon Unite, and it'll be joining several other titles in the Nintendo mobile games graveyard like Mario Kart Tour, while Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp transitioned from an online game to a microtransaction-free version that costs $10.
As the year winds down, Pokemon fans can also look forward to a new game in the series: Pokemon Winds and Waves. It's the longest wait yet between mainline entries, but judging from the teasers shown off so far, fans look content to let longtime developer Game Freak cook on this new chapter in the franchise.
Title: The Best Games Of 2026 (So Far)
Date: Fri, 08 May 2026 16:28:00 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/the-best-games-of-2026/2900-7436/
Once again, the year in gaming has seen no shortage of high-quality releases and GOTY contenders. Looking ahead, there are many highly anticipated games coming out in 2026, but how well will they score when they arrive? That remains to be seen, but, as in previous years, we'll keep track of all the games that hit a review score of at least 8 and list them below. That doesn't mean that games that fall below that threshold aren't worth your time, as they can still entertain you for hours on end if you can overlook some of their flaws.
We'll also be keeping track of those titles below, but for now, the focus here is on must-play games. 2025's best games included Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Silent Hill F, alongside entries from smaller studios like The Seance of Blake Manor, Dispatch, and Blue Prince.
As a reminder, GameSpot does standard game reviews, reviews in progress, and we'll sometimes publish updated reviews of ongoing games if there have been major changes to them. Most of our reviews are also adapted for video, so if you'd like to hear the soothing voices of our producers tell you exactly why a game is worth your time, you can hit up our YouTube page.
To keep things simple, we'll be listing the games below alphabetically, based on their scores. We've also added a new section below, because while we may not find time to review every game out this year, there's still plenty that we'd recommend when it comes to gripping entertainment that we jammed during our personal time.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse -- 10
GameSpot's first--and at the time of writing, only--10/10 game of the year, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is the series at its very best. The first truly new Castlevania game in over a decade, Belmont's Curse is an intricately designed masterpiece that gets everything right. Paris is a gorgeous city full of clever environmental puzzles to uncover, combat feels both nostalgic and fresh, and the Tarot Card system ties everything together with a neat bow. For decades, Castlevania games have been living in the shadow of the classic Symphony of the Night, but with Belmont's Curse, developer Evil Empire has raised the bar for the franchise.

Big Walk -- 9
Big Walk is a delightful and refreshing jaunt across a digital frontier that reminds you why video games are at their best when friends are involved. Untitled Goose Game developer House House has put together a charming combo of walking sim, puzzle-solving, and friendslop, and it leaves you to your own devices when you first set foot into a wilderness inspired by the legendary Australian outback. That hands-off approach, clever co-op communication channels, and simple gameplay make for a game that nails the idea of exploration and experimentation.

Cairn -- 9
Cairn represents a new peak for mountain-climbing games, as it fuses a vivid sense of wonder with a feeling of true peril. It's you against the world as you guide the protagonist Aava up steep cliffs and search for that one handhold that won't spell certain doom when you shift your weight. With equilibrium being a key component of the experience, Cairn also knows exactly when to let players breathe, offering moments of quiet reflection as a counterbalance to when you hit a metaphorical--and literal--wall on your ascent.

Control Resonant -- 9
No one will dispute that Remedy Entertainment is a master of storytelling, but with Control Resonant, the studio also proves that it knows how to marry a weird-as-hell narrative with gripping action. The developer has never been afraid to throw experimental ideas at its audience, but this time, Remedy has gone mainstream with how you'll play the game. It's an approach that has resulted in arguably the best pure gameplay experience since Max Payne, and when combined with incredible art direction and a surprisingly tender story, it makes for a potent blend.

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
Fire Emblem games are known for their lengthy campaigns, but Fortune's Weave is an apex predator focused purely on hunting down your free time. Nintendo's latest entry in its turn-based tactical RPG series lures you in with an incredible campaign and colorful characters, while missions operate as combat puzzles that require you to use every resource at your disposal to triumph. It's not just a return to form for Fire Emblem following the release of the underwhelming Fire Emblem: Engage in 2023, but a new gold standard for the franchise.

Marathon -- 9
Marathon is admittedly a lot to take in the first time you boot it up, but stick with it, and you'll find an extraction shooter that captures the highs and lows of the genre. Its art direction is a visual feast, the gunplay packs a punch, and there's a surprising amount of depth in each 20-minute excursion to Tau Ceti IV. How Marathon will shape up over the long term remains to be seen, but Bungie has delivered an exciting game with strong fundamentals, rich lore, and tactical gameplay that could get even better in time with post-launch DLC drops.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen -- 8
It might be a little confusing that Capcom chose the same name for the expansions to Dragon's Dogma 1 and 2, but for this repeat of the Dark Arisen title, it makes a whole lot more sense. On the surface, Dark Arisen adds in a chunky amount of new content to draw you back to the shores of Dragon's Dogma, but for anyone who missed out on the game when it first launched, the expansion also smooths over some of the rougher areas of the game, streamlining it for mass appeal. While that might dilute the experience somewhat, it also makes it more approachable, and there's still plenty to for both veterans and newcomers to enjoy.

Halo: Campaign Evolved -- 8
Several years ago, the idea of Halo appearing on a non-Xbox console would have been tantamount to heresy. Halo: Campaign Evolved is the best way to play through the very first Master Chief adventure, as the overhauled gameplay, updated graphics, and iconic soundtrack make for a killer package. Halloween: The Game
You might think that just because you've played one asymmetrical multiplayer game based on a popular horror movie IP that you've played them all, but Halloween: The Game makes some smart tweaks to the formula. Critics of the Little Nightmares co-op horror game series say that the terror of the original game has been somewhat muted in its sequels, and if you feel the same way, then you'll want to check out Reanimal. It more than lives up to the legacy of Little Nightmares, as this spiritual successor surpasses it with a game design that makes exploring a haunting and unsettling world quite enjoyable, especially with a co-op partner in tow. While its puzzles aren't too challenging, it's the unsettling imagery that leaves a lasting impression as you guide siblings through a nightmarish world and toward freedom.

Resident Evil Requiem -- 8
Imagine Resident Evil's greatest hits bundled into one delightfully macabre package, and you've got Resident Evil Requiem. A highlight reel of the heart-pounding horror and action that has defined the series for 30 years, Requiem refines the formula behind the games and polishes it with small but thoughtful gameplay additions to create a gorgeously gruesome experience.

Rhythm Heaven Groove -- 8
Nintendo might be looked at as a publisher of kid-friendly games, but the company isn't afraid to get weird from time to time. Rhythm Heaven Groove continues that tradition for surprisingly goofy games, and similar to WarioWare, offering a collection of zany microgames, there's plenty to dig into here. The big difference is the emphasis on music and timing in Rhythm Heaven Groove, but once you find your groove, you're in for a heck of an experience. It looks and sounds great, Remix Sections are downright magical, and the game is unapologetically weird.

Silent Hill: Townfall
The Silent Hill renaissance has been nothing short of a triumphant return to the horror franchise, and Silent Hill: Townfall is yet another feather in the IP's cap. Switching up the formula by going first-person and moving to Scotland, Townfall is a fresh take on the series that'll make your skin crawl. That constant sense of dread is amplified by tense, punishing combat, a banger soundtrack, and a storyline that'll subvert your expectations as you discover the horrific secrets of St. Amelia.

Splatoon Raiders -- 8
For years, Splatoon has been a PvP jewel in Nintendo's portfolio. But Splatoon Raiders? It's proof that there's more than meets the eye with this IP, as the shift to a single-player campaign is both satisfying and playful. Adopting a looter-shooter design, Splatoon Raiders is a fast-paced and snappy spin-off that is a ton of fun.

Star Wars Zero Company
It'd be easy to dismiss Star Wars Zero Company as XCOM with a familiar coat of sci-fi paint, but this new tactical turn-based combat game set in a galaxy far (far!) away makes several meaningful changes to the strategic formula. Zero Company brings the black ops side of the Clone Wars to life, offering players not only fleshed-out characters and dynamic choices but also several interesting wrinkles to the XCOM formula, making each battle feel like a tense fight for survival against overwhelming odds.

Vampire Crawlers -- 8
Roguelike deckbuilders feel like an oversaturated genre these days, but Vampire Survivors developer Poncle puts a fresh spin on the genre with a spin-off game that's hard to put down. WWE 2K26 -- 8
WWE 2K26 doesn't offer many changes to the bread-and-butter gameplay of previous releases, but this year's entry in the sports entertainment series does address a long list of issues. The focus on quality-of-life improvements makes each match feel more fun than ever before, thanks to the added layers of polish, while new match types, a story mode focused on CM Punk, and an overhauled Island mode put WWE 2K26 in the main event spotlight.

As mentioned above, this is where we'll put the games we didn't review on the site. With hundreds of new releases every month, it's hard to find the time to play every single title out this year, but we still enjoy finding new releases to kick back and relax with in our spare time. Like the games listed above, these score a minimum of 8/10 in our personal books, and this is where we can also spotlight games that might have flown under your radar.

Denshattack
Denshattack is a vibe--specifically, an early 2000s blast of color that pulls no punches and delights in making you sit forward in your chair as you lock into an anime-inspired thrill-ride. Each run in the game will leave you breathless as you juggle jumps, grinds, and wallrunning with a locomotive that spits in the face of physics, but once you get over that learning curve, Denshattack is hard to put down. It takes skill and practice to master the rails in this delightful love letter to a bygone era, but you'll love every second of it once you hit the tracks.

Fields of Mistria
Stardew Valley might rule the roost when it comes to lo-fi farming and relationship-building, but a new challenger has emerged; Fields of Mistria. After spending some time in early access, Fields of Mistria has steadily transformed into a delightful blend of nostalgic farming games, '90s anime-inspired aesthetics, and highly polished gameplay. While it looks like a retro treat, the game has a very modern feel to how it plays, as well as one of the best gameplay loops around as you combine farming, bug-catching, magic progression, and much more into a satisfying session of fun.

Title: One Day Out From Early Access, Emberville Has Been Delayed To 2027
Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2026 10:05:58 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/one-day-out-from-early-access-emberville-has-been-delayed-to-2027/
Originally set to enter early access on October 27, action-adventure RPG Emberville has been delayed by over two months to January 7, 2027. The last-minute delay gives the team time to make "essential improvements" before Emberville reaches its fans.
The upcoming game mixes Stardew Valley-like farming and community building with action-adventure RPG combat. Trapped in a magical underground dungeon, the player must uncover the truth about their cursed prison while revitalizing the ruined town of Emberville.
Emberville's demo was one of the most played during Steam Next Fest last week; however, player feedback from the demo has led to a last-minute delay.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOJmwxZZsX0
"Some of the improvements we want to make are systems changes that can't be done quickly," the Emberville team said, acknowledging feedback from Next Fest players. "Reworking bow combat, for example, would take more time than we had prior to our Early Access release even though the team is working around the clock. After carefully considering our options, we have decided to move the release date and include some essential improvements in the Early Access launch build."
While the game is intended to grow and improve throughout its early access period, with the developer planning to add new content incrementally, the studio wants to reach a certain baseline before it launches.
"Our team has a clear vision for how Emberville will develop throughout early access," the Steam post continues. "On January 7, our goal is to deliver an experience that shows what makes the game distinctive, establishes its core gameplay, and offers a compelling glimpse of how the game will grow throughout early access."
While some players are disappointed by the eleventh-hour delay, others have said they're happy for the Emberville team to take as much time as it needs to get the game up to scratch. Some players have also speculated that Emberville is just the latest game to move its release date in order to avoid losing players to the looming release of GTA 6.
Title: Ghost Of Yotei Was A Hit, But Its Developer Is Reportedly Cutting Jobs
Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2026 10:00:15 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ghost-of-yotei-was-a-hit-but-its-developer-is-reportedly-cutting-jobs/
Sony-owned studio Sucker Punch Productions is losing 24 employees in another round of layoffs in the games industry. The studio is behind Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei, two first-party PlayStation titles that have been critical and commercial hits.
An Aftermath report claims 24 Sucker Punch staff have lost their jobs. The studio is estimated to have between 190 and 230 staff, depending on the source, meaning Sucker Punch has lost at least 10% of its employees.
"After carefully observing the challenges in the market and reviewing the team needs for our next project, we've decided to make some staffing reductions," an email from studio leadership quoted by Aftermath read. "Several positions across Sucker Punch will be eliminated as a result."
"We know this is a lot to take in, and we want to assure you that we did not make this decision lightly. We have given this a lot of attention and worked to support our affected colleagues during this transition as well as we can," the email continued, adding: "Next week we will go into more details about the future."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d48IWwIRg98
For the past decade, Sucker Punch has worked on its two open-world samurai adventure games, both standout successes in Sony's first-party slate. As of 2022, Ghost of Tsushima had sold over 8 million lifetime copies, while Ghost of Yotei was reported to be Sony's best-selling title on the PS5 as of June 2026.
The studio's latest release was the critically acclaimed Echoes of Sekigahara expansion for Ghost of Yotei, which brought back the first game's protagonist, Jin Sakai.
Prior to Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch developed the Sly Cooper and Infamous series. This isn't the first time the studio has undergone layoffs after a commercially successful release; an unspecified number of layoffs occurred in 2014 following the launch of Infamous Second Son, the same month the expansion First Light was released.
Title: This Book Release Is Basically GTA 6 Launch For Thirsty Women, And Larian Knows It
Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2026 03:27:38 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/this-book-release-is-basically-gta-6-launch-for-thirsty-women-and-larian-knows-it/
You might have noticed that Baldur's Gate 3 has an extraordinarily large female audience, and for years, I've had my own theory as to why this is. Much like Dragon Age (rest in peace, my sweet angel), Baldur's Gate 3 features high stakes, fantasy-filled adventure, swords and sorcery, and charming characters that you can smooch. Essentially, it's a Romantasy--a term given to the plethora of women-oriented novels that feature all of the above.
Regardless of if you love or hate the term, Romantasy has exploded in popularity over the past decade, and part of that is thanks to writer Sarah J. Maas and her A Court of Thorns and Roses series. For over five years, that series has been on hold while Maas worked on other novels, but now, the sixth book in the series, A Court of Splintered Harmony, is finally here--or at least it will be later tonight. Anyways, it's basically GTA 6 release day for thirsty women, and Larian's latest post proves that team is well aware of it.
Earlier today, Larian took to Instagram to share a post referencing the series ahead of A Court of Splintered Harmony's release. In it, the studio shows off a few of the saga's most notable characters in Baldur's Gate 3's character creator while ACOTAR-related audio plays over top.
But while Larian celebrating ACOTAR was already enough to made me giddy, the best thing about this post is that it proves that someone at Larian knows ball. Each clip perfectly pokes fun at a character's most iconic (or notorious) moment, or references an inside joke from the ACOTAR community. This includes Feyre's watery bowels, the invisible fleck of dust Rhysand is constantly picking at, and the fact that Feyre's garden-loving sister Elain probably could have helped her family and grown a few crops while they were, you know, starving to death in a small cottage. And the Withers-Suriel comparison? Masterful.
Suffice to say that as both an avid reader and gamer, Larian's post delighted me. And as someone who has been yelling about how many of the best games around are secretly Romantasy games (The Witcher 3, The Blood of Dawnwalker, just about every Final Fantasy...), you have no idea how validated I feel right now.

Pokémon games come in all shapes and forms. There are the mainline Pokémon games, where players must collect 'em all and engage in battle with other trainers. But these pocket monsters have appeared in other video game genres as part of several series spin-offs. For example, Pokémon Unite is a MOBA similar to League of Legends but with Pokémon. The concept is fun, and the fact that it's free-to-play caught the attention of many. Unfortunately, its servers will soon shut down permanently.

Title: Cloud Deployment Incoming: ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’ Arrives on GeForce NOW
Date: Thu, 22 Oct 2026 13:00:20 +0000
Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4/
Lock in and load out this GFN Thursday. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives on GeForce NOW at launch, bringing a new campaign, multiplayer action and DMZ, high-stakes extraction mode to supported devices. The campaign also gets an enhanced look: GeForce RTX 5080-class performance arrives for Ultimate members, bringing support for ray-tracing features in the cloud.
There’s a new way to join the cloud, too: Existing supported Fire TV Stick users can now purchase one-month Performance or Ultimate memberships directly through Amazon, making it easier to sign up and start streaming on the big screen.
Plus, Square Enix’s FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE brings cinematic pixel art and strategic battles to the cloud, and The Elder Scrolls Online’s Echoes of Skyrim Season adds the entire Greymoor Chapter free for all ESO Standard Edition owners.
It’s all part of six games joining the GeForce NOW library this week.
Deployment Without the Downloads
Squad up and answer the call on the cloud.
Activision and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches today on GeForce NOW. Members can drop into the trenches in Korea, close-quarter combat in New York, high-octane chases through Paris, night raids in Mumbai and city-wide engagements to reclaim occupied territory.
Fight as Private Park, a young South Korean soldier facing live combat for the first time alongside his squad as a routine patrol turns into a desperate fight for survival. Beyond the front lines, operator-turned-outlaw Captain Price is operating outside the system he once served, pursuing revenge through covert missions as the conflict spreads.
Multiplayer pairs precise combat with fluid movement, a dozen core 6v6 maps from around the world and battlegrounds that are shaped by the campaign’s global conflict. The DMZ extraction mode sends players into contested territory to recover valuable technology, weigh objectives and decide when to get out. Loot, fight, negotiate, betray and extract — it’s all fair in the cloud and battleground.
Ultimate members can now experience the campaign with ray tracing, powered by newly added GeForce RTX 5080-class performance across PCs, Macs, handhelds, mobile devices, browsers, supported TVs and more. With game downloads and installs handled by GeForce NOW, members can spend less time preparing a local rig and more time preparing the next loadout.
A New Way to Play
A new way to join GeForce NOW on Fire TV.
GeForce NOW in-app purchase is rolling out to existing supported Fire TV Stick users, making it possible to purchase a membership directly through Amazon using an existing account. Transactions are processed through Amazon’s billing system, creating a more seamless path from setup to gameplay.
GeForce NOW transforms Fire TV into a powerful PC gaming rig in the cloud. Members can stream supported PC games they already own or purchase new titles from digital stores including Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox PC Game Pass, GOG and EA.
The library includes thousands of ready-to-play games, including many of the world’s most-played titles and more than 100 free-to-play games. No downloads, installs, patches or updates stand between a new game and playtime. An Amazon Fire TV Stick, the GeForce NOW app and an Ultimate membership are all it takes to level up the living room with GeForce RTX 5080-powered gaming.
A Pixel-Perfect Fantasy
Classic roots. A new adventure.
Square Enix’s FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE launches today on GeForce NOW, bringing the series’ classic roots into a cinematic pixel-art world.
Travel with companions bound by fate and uncover the truth behind a force threatening to bring everything to ruin. Strengthen the party with Visions of beloved FINAL FANTASY characters, each bringing unique skills and abilities to battle. Dynamic camera angles and pixelized 3D models give familiar fantasy a fresh perspective.
Exploit enemy weaknesses to stagger foes, break their defenses and seize extra turns before finishing the bonus phase with powerful Resonance attacks. Airships, crystals, espers and moogles bring familiar series favorites to a world filled with secrets to discover.
GeForce NOW handles the game’s downloads and storage in the cloud, leaving more space on supported devices for everyday essentials. Save the inventory management for potions and Phoenix Downs.
Step Into a New Season in Tamriel
Familiar lands. Fresh reasons to return.
The Elder Scrolls Online’s second season, Echoes of Skyrim, launched Wednesday, Oct. 21, free for all ESO players and ready to stream through GeForce NOW.
Season Two gives everyone who owns ESO Standard Edition access to its Skyrim content and the Antiquities treasure-hunting system. The Markarth downloadable content follows Monday, Nov. 9, rounding out the additions with two classic zones to explore.
The Season also introduces Solo Dungeons, reimagining challenges previously designed for groups. Moon Hunter Keep and March of Sacrifices have been redesigned and rebalanced for players ready to tackle their dangers alone. Earn new rewards and take on new challenges at your own pace without needing to find a group.
A new Tamriel Tome also launched Oct. 21, offering both free and premium battle pass reward tracks.
In addition, members can look for the following titles joining the GeForce NOW library this week:
We Were Here Tomorrow (New release on Steam, Oct. 20)
FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE (New release on Steam, Oct. 22)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (New release on Oct 23, available in the Call of Duty app)

Title: Dial Up the Cloud: NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Controls Arrive on GeForce NOW
Date: Thu, 15 Oct 2026 13:00:59 +0000
Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-enshrouded-update/
Dial in the next gaming session this GFN Thursday. New NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 controls give GeForce NOW members more choice over how supported games look and perform in the cloud, even without the latest hardware.
Then, step into the Shroud as Keen Games’ Enshrouded leaves early access with its 1.0 release, or let the bolts fly in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2. Both are streaming on GeForce NOW at launch.
With 10 new games joining the cloud this week, members can put the new controls to work in supported titles and keep playing across supported devices without downloads, installs or expensive hardware upgrades.
Fine-Tune the Cloud With DLSS 4.5 Controls
More control, more cloud power.
NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 controls are now available on GeForce NOW, giving members more choice over how supported games look and perform in the cloud, even without the latest hardware. DLSS Super Resolution sharpens image quality, while Dynamic Multi Frame Generation delivers lower latency and reduces stutter for smoother streaming, and Ray Reconstruction enhances ray-traced visuals. In addition, Ultimate members streaming on GeForce RTX 5080-powered cloud rigs benefit from the maximum available options, including Dynamic Multi Frame Generation up to 4X.
From James Bond’s globe-trotting missions in 007 First Light — now with path tracing support — to CONTROL Resonant’s reality-bending Manhattan and the shadowy scares of Resident Evil Requiem, the controls help fine-tune supported games for image quality, responsiveness or a preferred balance between the two.
These new settings are available in the GeForce NOW app under settings, for Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and Steam OS platforms. Members can read here for more details on using the feature with their membership tier, and more information on how to get the smoothest cloud game streaming for some games on GeForce NOW.
Rise, Flameborn
Enshrouded 1.0 brings the co-op survival action role-playing game out of early access and into its full release. Rise as a Flameborn, the last ember of hope of a dying race, and venture into a vast world of survival, action and role-playing, where a corrupting fog has consumed a once-beautiful kingdom.
The title brings improvements to existing systems, alongside expansions in combat with nine new spells, new mage and archer skills, reworked wands and upgradeable Eternal spells and arrows. New enemy variants keep encounters fresh, while a new biome raises the player level cap to 50 and equipment cap to 55.
GeForce NOW offers Enshrouded 1.0 ready to play in the cloud at launch across supported devices. Skip the 60GB local install to save precious storage space, then step into the Shroud without waiting for downloads or needing to make room for the update.
Let the Bolts Fly
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is now streaming on GeForce NOW. The brutal, fast-paced sequel to the retro first-person shooter brings more enemies, more weapons and new ways to purge.
Picking up directly after the original game, a branching single-player campaign sends the fight to grimdark new worlds.
Choose between the formidable Sternguard Veteran Malum Caedo and the swift Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath, each with distinct abilities, weapons and play styles. From towering hive cities to jungle mangrove swamps, new enemy types await in every biome.
GeForce NOW keeps the campaign ready in the cloud. No local rig upgrades or game installs stand between members and the fight — the Emperor’s work waits for no loading bar.
In addition, members can look for the following joining the GeForce NOW library:
Deep Dish Dungeon (New release on Steam, Oct. 13)
Planet Zoo 2 (New release on Steam, Oct. 13)

Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-october-2026-games-list/
Spooky season is streaming in. Alongside falling leaves, pumpkin spice and everything nice, 25 new games are joining GeForce NOW throughout October, including six ready to play this week.
From a new CONTROL Resonant reward for Performance and Ultimate members to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered joining the cloud, this GFN Thursday is packed with fresh reasons to play.
Claim Rewards
A new reward from a world gone sideways.
CONTROL Resonant is streaming from the cloud for GeForce NOW Performance and Ultimate members. Explore a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranatural annihilation as Dylan Faden harnesses extraordinary powers to battle the Hiss, the Mold and other reality-bending threats while searching for his sister, Federal Bureau of CONTROL Director Jesse Faden.
Performance and Ultimate members can claim the Third Ice Baseball Cap reward for CONTROL Resonant. After claiming the reward code, launch the Steam or Epic Games Store version of CONTROL Resonant, select “Options” from the main menu, navigate to “Gameplay” and choose “Enter Redeem Code.” The reward can be equipped after completing Act 1.
Cap it off: Claim the reward from Thursday, Oct. 1, through Sunday, Nov. 1, at 11:59 p.m. PT, before it slips into another dimension.
The White Wolf Rides Again
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered launched Tuesday, Sept. 29, and is now streaming for Performance and Ultimate members. Follow the iconic tale of Geralt of Rivia, a monster slayer for hire, as he tracks down the Child of Prophecy in a war-torn, monster-infested open world.
The remastered adventure brings Geralt’s beloved world back at refreshed specs across nearly any device. GeForce NOW handles the rendering, downloads and storage in the cloud, so there’s no expensive hardware upgrade or lengthy install standing between the trail and the next contract.
Ultimate members can take the Continent further with GeForce RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud — high-end horsepower worthy of the White Wolf, with no local hardware upgrade required.

Cloud Gaming Meets Googlebooks
GeForce NOW support is coming soon to Googlebooks — Google’s new category of laptops, and the first designed for Gemini Intelligence. Googlebook is crafted with premium materials for powerful performance. Secure by design, its Titan C chip and multigrade protection keep viruses out and hackers away. It also lets users jump from phone to laptop without skipping a beat, and access files and apps from phones directly on the laptop.
As Googlebooks begin rolling out this fall, GeForce NOW support will bring the cloud gaming library to the new laptop category, making it possible to stream the latest PC games with GeForce RTX-powered performance — and without local installs. Keep an eye on GeForce NOW social channels for more availability details later this year.
Awaken the Dragon Sword

Build a team from 19 heroes, stack Status Ailments with Active Skills and chain Signal Skills into spectacular tag-team combos. Each character carries a story of their own to uncover along the way.

Title: New Marvel Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom gameplay details
Date: Mon, 26 Oct 2026 16:00:09 +0000
Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/10/26/new-marvel-cosmic-invasion-the-siege-of-castle-doom-gameplay-details/
What was Doctor Doom up to during the Annihilation Wave? How would the master of Latveria react to an invasion of this magnitude to his doorstep? This was the first question we’ve asked ourselves while tackling the design of our second DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion. We knew players demanded a mode promising a lot of replayability. The idea was to offer something that would mix a perfect combination of classic Beat Em Up combat and an evolving mode that brought a new angle and some unique challenge to the genre – something that would perfectly accompany the addition of the two new playable characters: The Invisible Woman and Doctor Doom.Doom’s Castle Doomstadt seemed like the perfect candidate for this combination.
Design Intent
It was obvious to organize the new game mode around the duality of Reed Richards and Doctor Doom. Through voice-overs, the leader of the Fantastic Four guides the heroes through their ordeal while Doom mocks their efforts to invade Doomstadt. This notion brought us the idea of creating gauge mechanics.
As Doctor Doom’s brand new Cosmic Inductor charges up with energy to give him massive power, a Siege Gauge charges up each time the heroes get bested by enemies within the halls of Castle Doom. But every victory yields batteries charging up a Stabilizer, stalling Doom’s progress. We thought this theme and core gameplay enhanced the classic experience of the main campaign by tackling uncharted design territories and giving more ways to interact in the midst of the combat with new equipment, new power-ups, strategies and player decisions that can change the course of each run in a matter of seconds.
The ever-changing experience
The philosophy behind the level design of our new mode was to create a great sense of navigation and surprise within the corridors of the Castle Doomstadt. We aimed to create impactful moments that can reinvent themselves in new encounters, dangers and patterns that can become familiar after multiple runs without taking out the sense of adventure.
The Siege of Castle Doom has more than five times more encounters than the main game without the addition of the new events, traps and hazards that form the environmental challenges.
Reaching Doctor Doom is no easy task. The Halls of Doom are filled with torturous medieval-era tools. Heroes will be challenged by harsh blizzards freezing the Castle Battlements. Beware of the Tower of Solitude’s treacherous elevator platforms where Doom is developing his many experiments.
But to progress through these dangerous halls, the players will have to carefully choose which direction to take by selecting themed doors.
Equipment: Arms the player with a variety of special powers, whether they’re imposing force fields or devastating energy blasts.
Events: Leads the heroes to an arena where the rules are temporarily changed, potentially giving bonuses or penalties, depending on the outcome.
Heal: Gives your hero much needed healing.
Infinite: Power-up door where the player can be gifted infinite ammo or infinite focus.
Progression: Where your hero can collect a random amount of batteries that will fill Reed’s Stabilizer Gauge.
Build the best team against Doom
Atop the castle, Doom is charging up his Cosmic Inductor to make himself into Earth’s Champion.Players will need to be careful to not increase the Siege Gauge before gathering enough batteries to create Stabilizers and give Reed Richards the chance to increase the hero’s efficiency with the help of Perks.
The Perks system allows for leveling up with many branches: Offense, Defense, and Tactical, all based around their own theme. Perks are applied individually to each hero. Together, they will be able to unite their different strengths to create the best possible squad. Coordinating decision making for the builds will create a clear strategy, enabling even more chances for victory. In multiplayer, an MVP system will even reward the most effective players in the runs by showcasing their statistics.
Back at the lab
When collecting Stabilizers, heroes can reach Reed Richard’s Lab where they can expand their experience and unlock even more content. All-new unlockables such as equipment, events, and modifiers will reshape your Castle Doom experience. Completing a run will unlock a brand new palette for your hero, adding even more customization to your favorite character. We are excited to welcome you to Castle Doomstadt and give you a brand new adventure within Marvel Cosmic Invasion on November 10.
Title: Celebrate Helldivers 2 Liberty Day 2026 with in-game gifts today
Date: Mon, 26 Oct 2026 10:00:05 +0000
Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/10/26/celebrate-helldivers-2-liberty-day-2026-with-in-game-gifts-today/
We at Arrowhead Game Studios are excited to mark Liberty Day, the Helldivers 2 in-universe celebration, that’s now in its third year. As with previous celebrations, we’re marking the anniversary with a range of in-game gifts for active Helldivers, decorating your ship lobby to mark the occasion, and much more.
The history of Liberty Day
Long ago, before the formation of the Democratic Council, humanity lived in utter undemocratic chaos. Citizens of Super Earth had no reliable sources of truth. People believed anything, everything, with erratic voting records influenced by information, misinformation, and disinformation. Society was crumbling, descending into total democratic anarchy. We needed leadership and action to unite our beliefs, our votes, and our views.
We are so fortunate that the Democratic Council came together at this pivotal moment to give us the first and final draft of the tenets of Managed Democracy, which guide us on our true path to liberation.
Now, every October 26, we come together to celebrate all the wonderful things Managed Democracy has given us. From fair elections and strong family values to the Helldivers themselves as our galactic peacekeepers.
How we celebrate
For Liberty Day 2186, we have some new celebration items especially for our Helldivers: aboard your Super Destroyers this year, we have drafted new regulations regarding holiday ship adornments for October 26. Now, for 24 hours on our special day, you will see banners, rugs, party supplies, and other fun decorations aboard your ship.
We are also continuing our custom of a Liberty Day gift for our active duty Helldivers: The AR-23L Liberator Legacy1. This classic modeled after weapons used in the First Galactic War will bring a retro flair to modern loadouts.
The AR-23L Liberator Legacy will be rewarded at the conclusion of the Liberty Day celebrations. Be sure to log in and participate in the celebrations to claim your gift.
Finally, we are bringing back some community minigames for Liberty Day, including
Minidivers*. Work together in the chat to send emoji stratagem codes and stop the waves of enemies.
Adopt-a-SEAF. Receive your very own blueberry to care for and send on missions. Meet your new friend on the frontlines.
Oath of Enlistment*. Do your part and receive a copy of your oath to keep.
Raise the Flag*. Salute in the chat and raise the flag together.
*Only available to members of our official Discord server.
Officially recognized Liberty Day parties
Many citizens choose to throw parties for Liberty Day. This year, the Party Planning Protocol was enacted by High Command to help citizens plan their regulation Liberty Day celebrations, which includes the creation of the Liberty Day Party Pack.
This pack contains everything a citizen needs to get started, from games and decorations to recipes and printable Helldiver helmets. Instructions for downloading the pack can be found via the link here.
Other popular Liberty Day activities:
The Liberty Day Pyre. Families gather around the pyre at home and reflect on patriotism while children open their Liberty Day gifts.
Liberty Day Parades. Check with your local colony or city to find out your parade routes.
Did You Know: You don’t have to miss the parade because you’re stationed on your Destroyer. The Liberty Day Parade in Prosperity City will be broadcast to your ships no matter where you are in the galaxy.
The Mandatory Salute. Helldivers and citizens alike throughout the entire galaxy are required to salute in unison as a show of our democratic unification.
Helldiver Enlistment. There’s no better time to take the oath and do your part.
Orbital Bombardment of the Moon. Send a message to the enemies of Liberty using over 15,000 megatons of ordnance.
Fireworks. Light the spark of civic duty in every citizen with a patriotic fireworks display.
No matter what, the most important thing to do on Liberty Day is to be free. Enjoying the freedom afforded to us by Managed Democracy is what unites Super Earth’s citizens under one common cause–no matter where in the galaxy they might be.

Title: Saros: creating the epic Overlords of Carcosa

Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/10/23/saros-creating-the-epic-overlords-of-carcosa/
Housemarque and Nixxes developed Saros in close collaboration; one area was developing the set-piece bosses. Housemarque brought the creative vision, world, combat language, visual concepts, and signature bullet-hell DNA. Nixxes brought the bosses to life through encounter design, animation, environments, lighting, and technical implementation.
The result was a set of encounters designed to challenge players, surprise them, and deliver the kind of spectacle PlayStation players expect from a Housemarque action experience. Spoilers for the bosses of Saros ahead, so read at your own risk.

Collaboration with Housemarque
Boss fights in Saros are fully staged encounters, not just enemies with larger health bars, so that required close collaboration from the start. Housemarque handled boss concepts, visual direction, and VFX identity. Nixxes focused on animation, environments, technical design, boss behaviour, and attack implementation, with Housemarque’s final review and collaboration.
The road to developing a boss started with a briefing that outlined the vision, gameplay goals, and visual direction for the encounter. From there, Nixxes pitched its take, built early prototypes and first-playable versions, refining each encounter through iteration, playtesting, and polish until shipping.

What makes a Saros boss?
When designing bosses for Saros, we followed a few guiding principles, starting with three distinct phases for every boss encounter, each with its own identity, changing how the encounter looks, feels, and plays.
A typical boss battle in Saros lasts about three to eight minutes (Saros: Zenith has a tighter arcade experience), with the challenge coming mainly from boss behaviour, arena transformation, environmental hazards, bullets, beams, and physical attacks. These were also designed to encourage players to use their shield, jumping, parrying, and dashing abilities, knowing that a good boss attack should make players move with intent, not in panic.
Most importantly, when players were defeated by a boss, we asked: do they understand why they lost, do they know what to do differently next time, did it feel like their own mistake rather than something unfair, and do they want to try again?
The Bosses
Prophet — the wall boss
The Prophet was our introductory boss and a first major test for players. Because the Prophet appears early in the game, we wanted it to teach players what a Saros boss could be without becoming a major progression blocker. With the Prophet, we wanted a fight that felt dramatic and threatening while still welcoming players to the structure and expectations of boss combat.
Architect — the flying boss
The Architect is one of the game’s most dramatic encounters, fought atop a massive tower after earlier foreshadowing. The boss comes at you with everything it has, destroying the environment as the fight unfolds, and it doesn’t quit until the very end. The entire encounter centres on the collapsing arena, making the grapple hook a fundamental part of the battle. You are not just fighting the boss; you are fighting to survive the arena.
Shepherd — the massive boss
The Shepherd is the game’s largest boss and biggest visual spectacle, set on a ship on a stormy sea. It has an intimidating scale and culminates in a terrifying transformation by the end of the encounter. This boss is all about tentacles, which you must dodge and jump over throughout the fight. The tentacles also shrink the arena and spawn attacks from unexpected directions. In a dramatic conclusion, you face the boss on a sloped arena.
Priestess — the magic boss
The Priestess uses illusion and transformation, making for a less grounded, more surreal encounter with a strong phase identity. We wanted players to feel the Priestess could be the final boss, even if the journey was not over yet. The encounter evolves from illusion-based clone combat into a large-scale, floating arena, encouraging players to combine combat, puzzle-solving, and platforming to survive.
King — the final boss
As the final boss, we wanted the King encounter to feel direct, intense, and skill-focused. It is also a major narrative moment, and the encounter needed to reflect its importance. The boss battle escalates in personality as much as in challenge. It starts controlled and relentless, then becomes more brutal, and finally something feral and unpredictable. As a result, the King doesn’t rely on a complicated gimmick. Instead, the fight tests everything the player has learned, where mastery matters most.
Looking back and looking ahead to Saros: Zenith
Working on bosses for Saros was an amazing opportunity for the Nixxes content team. We aimed to make each one feel fair, thrilling, and worth trying again. And each encounter challenged us to think about how we could create the most memorable moments for the player. More importantly, it let us collaborate closely with Housemarque on the fast, responsive, high-intensity action that defines the game.
With Saros: Zenith, players can return to these battles in Housemarque’s new Overlord Rush mode and experience them in a fresh, faster, and more replayable way. We are excited to see how players take on the challenge and fight to reach the top of the Leaderboard.

Le Syndicat des Travailleureuses du Jeu Vidéo, a French game workers union, have released a statement detailing the current status of Don't Nod, the studio behind Life is Strange and Lost Records: Bloom and Rage. The studio's fate has been precarious for some time, but STJV now say that the studio has announced ("to financial press before the employees, as has been its MO") that it is under a "safeguard procedure" to avoid complete insolvency due to an inability to pay off its debts.

Title: Steam Frame kernel updated with external CD-ROM drive compatibility just one day after a user asked Valve for it

Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/steam-frame-kernel-updated-with-external-cd-rom-drive-compatibility-just-one-day-after-a-user-asked-valve-for-it
Even with the importance of physical media ownership in the current era of digital product ephemera, it's often unlikely your PC will actually be able to play the CDs, DVDs or Blu-Rays you have around the house. Internal disc drives aren't common amongst desktops or even laptops anymore, so your only recourse is often an external drive.
One Steam Frame user was hoping to connect his own detachable disc drive to watch movies and play Need For Speed Carbon (valid!) using the headset, which can run both VR and 'flat' games without a separate PC, but found that the Frame lacked the drivers to read a disc. In a very earnest community post, user Aiodensghost lamented that this fact "KILLED MY ABILITY TO INSTALL MY ABANDONWARE FROM 2006. You don't sell NFS Carbon anymore (fuck you very much EA) [...] May I PLEASE have the ability to use an optical drive?" So polite!

The gradual drip of details about and glimpses at what BioWare were looking to cook up with the cancelled Mass Effect 5 continues, this time thanks to a composer who was in talks to come aboard to put together the RPG's soundtrack. Said songsmith, Austin Wintory, has opted to share around 20 minutes of tunes he put together just as an attempt to explore where he might take things if he did end up being hired to score Commander Shepard's next adventure. Naturally, with BioWare's closure, that hasn't come to pass.

Title: Boltgun 2 and Warhammer Survivors devs Auroch Digital say they're laying of 25% of their staff in now-deleted posts

Not long after releasing boomer shooter Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun II and right before Warhammer Survivors launches in November, developers Auroch Digital have unfortunately given a public statement confirming that roughly a quarter of its current staff will be laid off as part of a restructuring.
